Oh, now you're asking, @CAFCGirl! I'm having to think about which is which!
TBH some have changed a bit recently and there doesn't seem to be much there. BHF and the ones between there and the library, I visit about equally. Current favourites are Sue Ryder (but only because I live in hope of interesting non-clothes items there) and Age UK. I don't favour Herriot Hospice as it's a bit cramped and not much that appeals to me, and for some reason I never go in STC. No particular reason!
Outside of town there's a lovely Oxfam in Helmsley, which has a fascinating warren of tiny rooms and some nice clothes. There's a treasure-trove of a shop in Kirkby Moorside, called something like 'Children in Despair' (I can't remember exactly what, it was a most unlikely title!) (I've not bought clothes there, just yarn and books) and another almost opposite, which is always worth a look.
Headed out towards the Dales, one of my favourites is on Bedale High Street, and further out there's a nice one in Leyburn, though I can't remember the name.
(I will be cashing in my commission from the Yorkshire Tourism Board later, LOL).I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

When I was younger, I asked my parents if my older brother would have to work to support us if they died. Once Mom caught her breath from laughing so hard, she told me no, we’d be 2 rich little kids if something happened to them. In my mind, we didn’t do “rich people” things, so it didn’t occur to me that there could be money in the bank (and we’ll not even discuss how good Mom is at financial planning outside of saving).2023 Fashion on the Ration: Start with 66. I came home from primary school aged about 8 and asked, "Mummy, what's a "pauper"?" because I'd been called it at school because my gymslip/pinafore had split along its seams as it was too small for me.
She shot out of the house like a greyhound out of a trap and, in memory, I was towed horizontally through the air in her wake, as she grabbed my hand in passing and hauled me along to the uniform shop to buy me a new school skirt and blouse - I'd never had any new school uniform, having an older sister, so I was thrilled! That was one of only two new school outfits I ever had (the other being when we moved several hundred miles).
The truly awful thing, looking back, is that Mum had been trying to get me to wear my sister's old skirt and blouse for ages and ages but I really loved that blue serge pinafore- it was really a gymslip, probably but we all always called it a pinafore.
It wasn't that I had to wear the too-small, worn-out pinafore to school - I insisted on it.... poor Mum...!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

Being labelled “a pauper” must have really injured your mum’s pride, @Laura_Elsewhere. In secondary school, I was a scholarship girl at an exclusive girls’ “public” school and my mum made at least one of my school dresses. (The school outfitters sold the fabric alongside the dresses.) I never felt like I didn’t fit in, so she must have done a good job. My only grumble at the time was to do with pockets - I think the bought dresses had an extra one built into the waistband, whereas this one didn’t.
On a different topic, the zipper “carriage” in my college fleece has started to break up, after 20 years of wear. The bit that holds the zipper-pull broke off in my hand on Friday. The zip itself still works beautifully but does anyone know if it is possible to replace the carriage part? (I don’t know what it’s really called.)

@PipneyJane, I think the bit on the zip you mean is called a slider, quick goog brought up available to buy on Amazon including a snap on version, various prices, but I also spotted a utube on how to replace the slider. Not watched it so it might be rubbish but probably worth a look before you get a replacement.. I have in the past just been able to replace the pull tab with a piece of cord but if the slider is wrecked you might not be able to do this. I have also just replaced the zip as I never imagined it was possible to replace the slider.
Emma Watson is great and she is on your LinkedIn, wow
BSW, omg I love the idea of a pallet dive. The shop is amazing but you could easily spend a whole year's worth of coupons and more in a single trip8 -
@Laura_Elsewhere, you can still buy those gymslips
. My Mum made lots of my school uniforms, skirts and jumpers though she usually bought the shirts. At 1 school I had to wear a kilt, Gordon tartan and I remember my Mum working with yards of wool fabric to make it but it would have lasted years if I hadn't changed schools after 2 years.
