  • Morning all
So I get back on here and then have the spendiest week in existence. Car servicing and MOT appointments, hair appointments, emergency cat food purchases when my delivery didn't turn up, and today a vet appointment for NT2. Thankfully she is insured so there is a maximum spend there at least.
Needless to say my January budget is the tightest I have ever known.
Today's plans include - bagging up and freezing the curry I made and making egg muffins with the leftover gammon. Taking NT2 to the vet. A couple of hours of exam work. Maybe a nap so that I can be awake past midnight to say tata to 2020. And a walk - it's very cold but sunny so I want to make the most of it. My mental health is already feeling the effects of landing in tier 4 and having no idea what's happening with work next week.

    Afternoon all :)
DNMS, you are such a lovely Mum and Granny <3
CCL, hang in there, I am sure you are not the only one who doesn't know what is going on. Saw the Education Secretary on TV this morning, and unsurprisingly it was all as clear as mud >:)  Not sure if anyone else is old enough to remember that Frank Spencer comedy character on TV years ago, but he really reminds me of him! Except that one of the two was / is a clever actor just playing at being a twit. Hope NT2 is ok.
Just been out with the dog for a belated walk. Very icy again here today, but the sun is out now and I was able to walk in the melted bits instead of the dog pulling me on the skiddy bits! Didn't go far, as the dog was determined to head to the nearby recreation ground so he could run about on the frosty grass, which he loves for some reason.
Got back and OH has lit the stove already. Unsurprisingly he has already ordered more logs for after the New Year.
Not much happening again, but I have done a bit of cleaning and tidying and ventured to the garage (at the bottom of the slippy back path, not joined to the house) to find a couple of boxes to pack ebay items, and took the recycling out. Had to prise the bins open with a trowel as they were frozen shut.
I think I will find some more cleaning to do upstairs (plenty to choose from) as OH has parked himself in front of an ancient western film :#  I am not a fan!
Dinner will be the rest of the chilli I made yesterday. OH is muttering about a roast for tomorrow, so will need to get something out to defrost.
We are one of the few areas in Tier 3, but just one county, or a bit of one, surrounded by Tier 4 areas. The only difference as far as I can see is that the shops can stay open - but I have pretty much lost track. I think it is only a matter of time before they are forced to close again.

    Morning folks
Happy new year! We are officially out of quarantine but I've not had a great night (get night panic attacks when I'm ill). Stomach still off.
Still, we are hoping to go for a short drive today.
    Love you all

    Morning all :)
Glad you are feeling a little bit brighter CLF :)
Another freezing morning, it didn't thaw at all yesterday, and now it has started snowing - not a fan of winter I have decided!
Going to get my new wall calender up, and set up my new diary and budget book today - a bit like starting after the school hols with new exercise books etc - still love stationery :)  Trying a budget book this year instead of rather unwieldy spreadsheet which seems to have developed a lot of errors. New year resolution is to try to have more no spend days (along with the usual lose weight etc). Not making a promising start, as OH has just asked me to order him a second hand book. Only a small spend at least.
    Other than that I will:
Check banks and finalise spreadsheet for 2020 (good riddance!)
Do a bit more cleaning and decluttering
List at least 1 new thing on ebay
Fridge bits, cheese etc for lunch
Get the dog out for a walk at some point. He won't go out when it is raining, so snowing I should imagine is out of the question :D
Slow roast a piece of beef brisket for dinner later. Looking forward to this, as it came from the beef box from a friend's organic farm. We buy a box off them every year, to support them as much as anything. It isn't cheap, but we know how well looked after the animals are, and it is very local and super quality.  It deserves very careful cooking.
Hope everyone has a good day :)

Afternoon all, and happy new year to all of you! I hope 2021 is your year.
I had quite a productive day in the end yesterday - got my work done, got a short walk in, got to the vets and managed to stay awake until 1210am so just saw 2021 in. I only drank what I already had in (which is quite a lot now I no longer live with an alcoholic) - I had a bit of a mix of cider, bucks fizz and chocolate liqueur, and I still have a LOT of bottles of spirits left. I should have easily enough for 2021 that's for sure, because I'm a very infrequent drinker. Was expecting a far worse hangover this morning than I actually had, and although I'm tired I'm ok.
I have had a semi productive morning. More exam work has landed, and I now have a meeting tomorrow afternoon as well so I will need to find an hour or two this afternoon so I'm properly prepared for it.
I've prepared roast potatoes round 2 (my kids seem to love them and we have lots of leftovers that can be eaten with roasties today). Now just waiting for the kids to get up so we can decide on the rest of it.
Was planning on taking the Christmas tree down today but that will depend on whether or not I can find the time. Then I'll need to hoover right through.
However, I have already managed to feed the cats, clear up and wash dishes, put the recycling out, change the litter tray and have a shower. So I consider today a win already. I've also dug out my new day to page diary for budgets and hopefully planning. My new year resolution is to make small, sustainable changes - and this thread will be a great place to start.
I have found out that I'm in work as normal on Monday - we have an inset day so I assume I'll find out then what the plan for the immediate future is there. As far as we know anyway...
CLF - I really hope that you're feeling lots better very soon.
Dawn- I remember Frank Spencer - they could be father and son couldn't they?

    Afternoon all :)
    Today I have / will:
Decent dog walk, dodging the iciest bits on the pavements. Raining now.
Baking session - parmesan scones, fruit scones, most now frozen, and a lemon drizzle cake to use up an ageing lemon that was steadily getting harder and harder in the fruit bowl.
Listed 2 items on ebay, sold 2 others
Checked banks and moved some money
Need to do a bit of cleaning / tidying
Dinner will be jacket potatoes, salad and some cold beef left over from yesterday's roast :)
