Hi ladies I am enjoying all the chat about clothes in movies etc I tend only to know the older ones as I rarely watch films, costume dramas etc these days. Our local Arts Centre was closed for major works about 2 years before Covid and no idea when it will open again sadly.
One reason for FBs casual footwear may be that 5 years ago she broke her ankle very badly while trampolining with her daughter, surgery, a plate and 5" screw are the legacy, 6 weeks in plaster and 9 in an air boot. I remember seeing her in one of the art authentication programmes wearing a boot. I know from experience that, as she was told by her surgeon, it will heal, but never be the same again, like most arthritis set in with mine too.
I am hoping that the longer days and warmer weather will give me the incentive to re-start my journey from frump to fab, I don't think I have ever been so demotivated in my life.

Unfortunately young women can be propositioned in any area, wearing any clothing - when my daughter (from a small town) went to university in a city, we were concerned that the student area didn't seem safe, so paid extra for her to live in leafy suburbia, having first fully researched the area. However, she was propositioned by older men so many times on her walk to University, that it was truly disturbing to us. It was winter, so she was dressed in boots, trousers, jumpers, and, often, her favourite long red wool coat. The only things we could imagine were attracting the unwanted attention was the fact that she has long blonde hair or perhaps the colour of the coat. We were so concerned that we advised her to stop wearing the coat, changing it out for one of her darker coloured ones, and to vary her route, taking buses for a few weeks. She also had an Uber driver tell her that he approved of the way that she dressed, not like some of the other young women he saw, and that she was obviously a nice girl with strict parents, he then proceeded to warn her of all the dangers out there for young women (all of them sexual and many quite bizarre, eg. don't let any of your flatmates into your room, even girls - you may think they're just friends but they may be lesbians!) - all of which which made her feel extremely uncomfortable.8

Today I booked our haircuts for late April and a tidy up of my feet at the chiropodist for late March. I was trying to think about what I want to do after lockdown ends...
It just occurred to me that I haven't had my Ruby & Oscar birthday necklace delivered yet. I have only had one email from them and they have taken out the full amount of the money and told me one of the necklaces was unavailable. I don't know if that is the usual bad service or if it is to do with the pandemic but I won't be ordering from them again. I tried to call them but I was on hold for a while so I will try tomorrow.

I agree women and girls can be propositioned anywhere however, I have lived in the red light area, lived in a nice suburb, lived in a small town and I can say hand on heart it is a whole different ballgame in the vice area. Men in expensive cars who no doubt live in nice safe neighbourhoods think they have some sort of right to any female in the vice area.
I was once propositioned by the father of a classmate. They lived in a very posh area in my city and at the time had a new baby. He stopped and unusually I acknowledged him thinking he recognised me from school, well that thought soon disappeared and so did I. I made a point of walking out of school with her the following Monday as he always picked her up, no doubt his little girl was too precious to risk her travelling home alone. I smiled what was quite an evil smile as I saw his face when he recognised me. I am quite proud of myself as a 14 year old that I never told anyone but he must have been very worried about being exposed.9 -
I’m going to derail the thread for quick post. We found out today that DS got his first choice for secondary school. I’ve been on tenderhooks all day waiting for the notification message, but I cheated and just logged straight onto the website, so I got a slight head start.10

I had a strange experience a few years back. My then boss's DD was thinking of moving into a flat close to the football club but they'd only viewed it in daytime and he wanted to check out the area at night. So he suggested that we drive around after an evening game and go to the local pub to get a feel for the area. DH, my boss and I were sitting having a drink and this guy came over and asked my boss about me. He was asking about my availability as he assumed he was my pimp!! 🤣 She didn't take the flat. 😉6
