I had a ping too. Said I didn’t need to take any action or isolate but I’ve decided it might be prudent to keep a low profile for a little while. We are so close but still so far. 😂5

I home schooled mine for 5 years. I think it was easier as we did our own thing and didn't have to worry about sending things to school. We did about an hour a day, if that, and the kids were ahead when they started school. They did lots of learning by doing their own thing, computers were a big help with lots of educational stuff. Maybe Gavin Williamson needs to talk to some home educators instead of trying to make home like school.
I was working as well, had a part time job 2 days a week and a wfh job where I had to attend an evening meeting once or twice a month. It was all a bit like juggling but worth it. My husband was disabled but well enough to keep an eye on the kids when I was at work, made them responsible as they would be looking after him as much as him looking after them, just things like fetching things for him and keeping him company. I suppose it all seems a bit odd but it worked for us.

Just out of curiosity LL, have you any idea why you got the 'ping'? Do you know anyone/anywhere you might have been for long/close enough? I agree it's common sense at the moment to keep a low profile but I find it hard to just accept what a 'ping' suggests without any evidence. I've not subscribed to the test and trace app but, on the few occasions I've been anywhere with a QR code, I've happily left my contact details. 🤔7

I'm thinking the local Tesco. It said no further action required.Apparently the NHS guidelines say that infection needs 15 minutes contact, 🤷♀️However, grandson (and therefore his dad) have been to hospital 3 times this week, plus GS is still attending nursery so until things calm down a bit I'm just going the extra mile and self isolating.I don't mind.7

I read your posts about being pinged last night and said to my husband that it was weird that he hadn't been pinged considering his job and where we live. He had his NHS app on his mobile phone switched off! He put it on and got pinged straight away. He has to isolate for 6 days.
I didn't mention it on here (I don't think?) but I did on another forum so I went back to check the day I posted. I woke up Wednesday morning feeling like I was coming down with something. I gargled with salt water and had a hot bath and felt okay so I'm assuming now that might have been Covid. It was very mild if that is what it was. I don't know what that means for me and if I have to self-isolate too. I will have to read up as the rules keep changing it seems.7 -
I know someone on here is a bit of an expert on dyeing so I wonder if I can ask for some advice. I have some bath towels which are absolutely fine except they started of cream and are now faded and look like scruffy white towels. Could I dye towels, would the colour be likely to come off on the user? I've been planning a new bathroom, had picked out the things I wanted last February but didn't get it done due to lockdown and I don't feel confident about having workmen in the house for days but I will get it done. I'm thinking of a turquoise colour scheme so if I could dye the towels it would be great.
Sorry I can't remember who does alot of dyeing, I'm hopeless with names.5 -

purple the Dylon washing machine dyes are really easy to use as you just chuck the towels and dye in the washing machine and the items will come out dyed. I believe that natural fibres take the colour much better than man made fibres, so if your towels are pure cotton, they should come out nicely, particularly if they are a light colour to start. The only potential issue is the threading. If the thread is made out of man made fibres, it may not take the dye, so you could end up with nicely dyed towels, but the threading is the original colour. I don’t think you will know until you try.

Thanks Wednesday and Chanie I think I'm going to give it a go. I looked up Paradise Blue and it looks like the right sort of colour. If it doesn't work it isn't much of a loss as they are pretty grotty anyway. I had some lovely new white ones so I thought some white and some turquoise would look nice.6

Thanks LL. I'm pleased to hear that it said 'no further action' although I understand why you are choosing to lie low. Scientists today are saying that we should all behave as if we have the virus and keep ourselves to ourselves. It's just that the advice is changing so rapidly that I began to question whether I remembered it correctly and we needed to have prolonged (15 mins) close contact with a carrier. I didn't think that would be the case walking around Tesco! 🤣
Did you notice that there's a programme on tonight about Chatsworth? I think it's a new one going behind the scenes at the house through the year.
Chatsworth House: A Great British Year - what time is it on TV? Episode 1 Series 1 cast list and preview. (radiotimes.com)
I'm going to record the first series of The Real Marigold Hotel as I didn't see it the first time. I've seen the fictional films but this is the one where 'celebrities' stay in a hotel in Jaipur. We visited there for G&Ts on the roof when we went to India in 2019 and the owner is an interesting chap.
I've had a very lazy day, reading the weekend newspapers and generally pottering about indoors although I did do some washing so not totally idle. 😉6
