It is snowing (or at least it was).  Not much but some flakes mixed in with the rain, so I doubt it will stay, but then again who knows.

I must admit I have again done very little today.  I did reload the dishwasher so the kitchen is better, but other than that I have been reading diaries and looking at the money situation, trying for find some new recipes we can try and watching some tv.  All while keeping warm with the cats and under my blanket.  At least no money has been spent.  DS and DD2 have hidden in their rooms for most of the day also being lazy and pottering around.  While some may think it has been a wasted day, I am calling it a recovery day that will set me up for the week ahead lol.

Thank you both of you.  Is it acceptable to have 2 recovery days in a row though lol.  I was awake early worrying that DD1 wasn't going to be up in time to leave for work as well as allowing extra time for the snow.  Turns out it has melted away so not really an issue.  I then snoozed a little more until it was time to wake DS.  Took him to work and then put the chilli in the slow cooker.  Nice easy meal for later.  Will serve with rice and maybe tortilla chips.  It is just cold and grey outside and doesn't really make me feel like doing a lot.

I will get off the sofa soon, even if it is just to stick another load of washing on.

Entered a competition to win cinema tickets at the local theatre yesterday.  Some lovely scammer nearly got me by saying that I had won and just register on this link.  Luckily I realised before clicking the link.  Reported it to both the theatre and fb.  Wondering if they have tried us all that have entered?  Will find out at 2pm if I am lucky.

Just had a call asking if we would like to do some outdoor cooking tomorrow.  We will need to wrap up warm but thought why not as we haven't really got much going on this week and it is free and it is always fun.  Wont feel guilty for having these couple of days doing nothing then.  Must hunt out my woolly hat and gloves as lent them to DD2 a while back and never got them back.

It does mean that we will come back with a huge box of food to make over the next 5 days.  Will need to clear some room / organise the fridge as the freezer is full.  I may have to resort to moving some bits into the outside freezer.  This seriously needs a new seal or replacing, but I am only going to do that if I come across one for free.

I've also just collected DS from work.  He has come back with some jacket potatoes as he often does.  When DD1 worked there she would bring loads of things home that were just going to go in the bin.  DS only seems to bring the jacket potatoes home which is fine, but he doesn't even like them lol.  No one else working with them ever wanted to bring things home, but my lot have obviously been bought up to not waste food and don't mind eating things that are no longer in date for the cafe, but still perfectly ok.  We will substitute the jackets for the rice tonight to go with the chilli.

Some fruit has also just pinged up on olio so I have requested a few bits,  and waiting to hear if we have been successful.  If we are I think we are pretty much sorted for food for a fair while.

Well I am just waiting for DD2 to get herself downstairs and ready to go.  I have many layers on and have found some gloves and a hat under the bed in the hope of staying warm while being outside all day.  On occasion when it has been wet we have lit the fire outside but cooked inside - maybe we will be lucky today?  At least the sun is out.

Tupperware at the ready to bring home the left overs.  See the builders are back outside again this week.  They have been missing for the past few weeks so I expected them to be here for half term.

Right I better get going and see what we will be cooking today

  • Ooo that sounds fun although cold. We used to do outdoor cooking with DS's forest school...rain, snow, hail....it was freezing and yet we would still have a fire going somewhere 🤣 I miss the hot days there but not the cold ones.
Enjoy your day and hope you get some goodies in the food box later!

Thankfully the sun was out and some of the wind dropped so it was actually a little warm like an early spring day.  The rest of the day though was quite chilli, but at least there was no rain or snow.  We also only cooked on gas fires too so no huddling around the big fire to warm up.  Never mind we still had fun and made leak and potato soup, and came home with a box of veggie meals which we can try.  There were not too many things that had to go in the fridge luckily.  Tonight will be pulled pork though as we are out most of the day, so it can cook away in the slow cooker.

Today we are heading off to a driving theory test for DS, even though none of us think that he will pass (not a lot of revision happened), but he wants to have a go.  We then have a little wait until dentist time.  I think we will get lunch and then brush teeth before meeting my Dad who will take them in while I take clothes back to the shop nearby as I don't do dentist.

Feeling it is going to be a long day and I will be glad once the appointments are over
