well done on started the Xmas shopping.
Super wet and rainy in London too.DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Ooh it is nippy outside. Just had to pop to the shops as somehow there wasn't much food left in the house. I walked through the door from meeting friend after work by both DDs complaining there was no food in the house. Well I managed to find several meals for everyone. DD1 continued to complain and has gone somewhere with BF and will sort herself something later on. The meals may not have been exciting but they were filling and warm. Anyway the fridge has been filled.
Moneywise I have made a boo boo. My car recovery has automatically come out of my bank. I am not happy that I had forgotten to look at other options when I got my letter through about a month ago. I was busy but should have made a note of it somewhere.
Now trying to catch up with I'm a celebrity, as we are a few days behind. Our tv doesn't let us watch it on the day, so we are always a day behind.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

I turned the heating on this evening as the thermometer in the kitchen was reading 12 degrees which I felt was too cold for the house. It is much toastier now and even though we are still under blankets the air is much warmer. It will make showering later a much more enjoyable experience.
Have done a few loads of washing and they are now drying. Hopefully my work trousers will be ready for wearing by the morning.
I cant remember if I mentioned that I lost one of my hearing aid moulds the other day. I had to order another. It arrived after about 2 weeks and I can now hear again. It is so lovely being able to hear properly again.
I had a health check at the gp's as I am over a certain age. Looks like although my bmi is high, my BP and cholesterol are very low (in fact too low on the good cholesterol). Bloods taken for general wellness checks but she doesn't want to see me for another 5 years.
Money is low but ok, a small payment from XH came in today £12. Not huge but better than nothing I guess. I got confirmation that DD2 is going to her library and outdoor cooking events.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Another bitter day here. Had to scrape the windscreen before we could head to work / school. Miss my ford that had heated windscreen and seats lol.
This afternoon I took the afternoon off to go through everything for Christmas. Stockings are done (apart from the mandatory chocolate coins). All 3 children are done and most of the others I buy for are also done. Hoping to head into local town after work tomorrow to take DS to primark for a few tshirts. These will be spread out around relatives, as he is the hardest one to buy for. I also need to buy all of mums presents for the family. She sends money over and hopefully a list of gifts and then I shop for them, wrap them and deliver them.
Sat here under my blanket watching a Christmas film. Not sure if I will make it until the end as will probably fall asleep.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Sorry @LadyWithAPlan. I hate having to rush around trying to find something that has gone out of stock, then having to rethink things and start again. I find I'm much calmer if I can get organised. I have DD1's BF to buy something little for and then a friends gift. Then also mums bits that she still needs to tell me first, although think that is only my brother and sister as I've bought bits for my lot for her. The Christmas pot however is getting low so will need that topped up if anything else is needed.
For one of my friends you may remember I had asked if we could not exchange gifts as money was tight this year. Out of everyone I knew she would understand the most. We said we would make a card only. I have found a nice cross stitch pattern and am going to hunt in my craft stash to see if I can come up with the bits that I need for it. I will need to get working on that this weekend too, so that it is ready in time.
Last night I used my bday vouchers from January, to go to see a live show at the local cinema. It was a teacher who tours and plays old assembly bangers. You get to sing along and somehow the lyrics from all those years ago are still ingrained in your brain. It was Christmas themed and I had a good time singing away. Although I had gone alone, I was actually sat next to a group of people and one of them I knew so they switched places to sit near me. She also gave me a lift home.
Today we are expecting a storm and tomorrow the Christmas fair is not happening because of it. I think 2 days of snuggling on sofa / wrapping gifts / watching films and keeping warm is the way to go. Both DD1 and DS have work but other than that we can stay home. However I have just been given the task of finding DD1 a christmas jumper for work. Lidl had some cheap hoodies so I may nip there quicklyMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

I don't think storm Bert has quite reached us as much as they thought yet. It's a little windy but not as much as they had expected when they cancelled the events in town. I guess there is still time left for it to get worse. Its so warm outside though it feels odd,
I've dropped DS off at work and at some point I will need to collect DD1 from BF's. BF is leaving for a week at uni so we will have free evenings. Nothing else really planned for today other than the usual washing / homework / cleaning.
Popped to lidl for milk and my free fruit item. Got some raspberries as a treat. Also picked up some meringue nests so we can make into mini pavlovas for pudding after the chicken stew.
Been working on next years money spreadsheet, and while money is less, hopefully I will still be able to save enough for the pots that we need. Council tax has gone up again this month. I am guessing it has something to do with either DD1 not being in an apprenticeship or my back pay possibly. I need to ring them really and see if they can unravel things for me. Tomorrow is benefits pay day. I will transfer the money from the savings that I put aside for the lower amount I knew I would be getting because of the back pay and it will be like that never happened.
