  • Good luck to your DS!
And that is quite naughty of the surgery to give someone else's notes out. Thankfully you know her...but imagine if it was another person you didn't know of the same name! This funny enough happened to me a lot when married as my married surname was common. My maiden name isn't thankfully so I don't get questioned quite as much now on which one I am

Well we didn't pass English - got a 3 in both of them (better than in my dream however).  Trying to find out how much it was missed by in the hope that if only 1 or 2 marks maybe a remarking of it might get a few more points to tip us over.  Obviously as this is DS he can only see that he has failed and even though he got some very good marks including a 7 in maths, he can only see the negative.  We have filled the form in for the college and now wait for a phone call to check he is ok to do his course.  If the phone call doesn't come he will need to go to college tomorrow morning to discuss it.  Really hoping for a phone call to get it all sorted today as he thinks he has lost his place

He did do really well and some of the other subjects that were essay based and he had been struggling with he passed well.  He also passed the subject that he had no teacher for and expected a 2 for.  That was a shock to us all.

  • wow 7 in maths is fab! Well done on the passes. He has dyslexia so I wonder if they will let him in anyway on those passes. My DD is going to a technical school (hopefully) and she has only scraped the math and science so we aren't sure if they will accept. It is over and above what the college was asking for though so that is a good back up for her. And if need be I will go and discuss it as you would and see if she can do a re-sit alongside A levels x

Thank you DFW, he has had the call from the college and is in.  He was 3 marks off the grade 4.  Apparently the school only recommend a remark if 1-2 points off.  I have said that we still may consider it.  Anyway he will retake if not remarked along side his course.  At least he has a place.  Now to wait for the bursary lady to let us know she has sorted the transport for us (told us not to do it).  Once that is in place I can relax

Feeling a little calmer this morning now I know what each child will be doing this year.   It is blustery this morning and the cats were unsure if they wanted to go outside.

Not much happening today, DD2 has another workshop at the library - possibly the last one and is mosaic making of some kind.  I need to arrange to see Nana now we know which days DS is at college next week.  She mentioned spending the day at the beach so hope the weather improves.

I need to help DS decide on a desk chair now his premium bond money has cleared - the stool he is currently using is painful after the first 10 minutes.  I also need to get him to message his teacher to see if we have to provide a laptop for his English lessons or if they have some to work on, as he does his exams and class work on laptops.  High school lent us a laptop for home as his broke, so now he doesn't have one that he could take in.  Might end up looking for grants later if he needs his own.

We also need to get his transport sorted but are waiting for a code from the bursary team for that.  They keep sending out emails saying to book bus places quickly as it is first come, but are not giving us the code.  Really hope they don't leave it too late.

Right I best get going and re awaken the children, need to get back into waking up at reasonable times.

On the desk chair, I have this one. It is very comfortable and not too big, so tucks nicely up to my desk, not taking up a lot of room (I am a pc gamer so can spend several hours in it at a time without my bum going numb 🤣)

@Jessy103 thank you ever so much for that.  Is it suitable for large build people, he is getting so tall and big now.  It was after I read your diary that I mentioned Twitch to him.  He became affiliated about a week ago now, so thank you :)

  • I recently bought my DS a gaming chair it was quite expensive but it was all he wanted for his birthday. Still I couldn't believe it was over a hundred quid. It is comfy though

Well he has found a chair and bought it.  It was very similar to the one Jessy recommended so hopefully it will be ok.  He is using his premium bond win to buy it.

Still no code from the college so we cant book the bus as yet. The app has been downloaded ready though. Really want it sorted before the long bank holiday as he is due to go on Wed and Thur next week, so we will only have 1 day to sort it all.
