Well we made it through the day of training. I think most of us had either been ill over Christmas or were still tired, so I wasn't alone. As it was a training day it meant we had a free lunch bag which was good as I wasn't organised in packing my own lunch. One more day before the weekend
Sounds like the children had ok days at school - as far as I can tell anyway.
I got home to a letter I needed to log for the postal survey. This took me over the points I need to claim my 2nd voucher for this coming Christmas. £25 voucher requested. Cant be bad.
Although we have club I can be home by 8 hopefully and as soon as the older 2 return home then bed will follow fairly soon after. DD2 already wants to sleep, but club first. Bins are already on the curb ready for the collection tomorrow.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

We made it to the weekend and I am starting to get back into the swing of being back at school and early mornings. I think the routine is helping me to not feel as exhausted, but we will seen.
This morning we are up and getting ready for the children's work . DD1 has her first actual shift in her new job. DD2 and DS have their chats with the possible new employers. I am playing taxi for all and hoping we make it on time. I would normally go the main road way but I know there will be a flood that way so we will go through town instead and hope that it is ok.
Once home we need to catch up on washing, the house and really need to work out the food situation. Just bumbling along is not working and before long I will start to rely on takeaways which is not good in so many ways. So food needs looking at and a plan needs to be made.
My coat hooks are also arriving today so I need to sort through the unit that is there and get rid / move things inside it. Then I can put the unit on freecycle or similar. It is a unit XH bought from someone at the pub one night randomly and never really fitted in with anything, so it can go, and we can have somewhere to put coats. I just need to see if I am brave enough drilling the holes or see if I need to call my dad or brother for some help.
Right must get onMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Just having a quick sit down. Unit in hall emptied (currently all the way up the stairs, but going through the different bits) and then given to the new neighbour as he is setting up from scratch from the looks of it. Coat hooks fitted by me and haven't fallen down as yet - go me!
2 loads of washing currently drying around the house and in the dryer.
interviews completed but unfortunately no luck for DS and not heard yet for DD2. It was DD1s first job interview and although we can prepare them a little its always eye opening. I think she learnt a lot so even if it is a no as well she will know what to expect a little more next time. Still keeping fingers crossed thoughMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

First interviews are always horrible - in fact all interviews are as far as I was concerned when I was young! So glad to be retired now and not have to worry about them anymore!1

Well DD2 didn't get the job, but looks at it as a learning experience. There were over 100 applications according to fb so to have an interview is great.
New neighbour was very kind and just delivered a box of chocolates as I didn't want anything for the unit I gave him earlier. I said it was not necessary as I just needed it gone, but I appreciate the thought. I hope this is a good sign that he has been bought up well and is a thoughtful neighbour, as many of them haven't been.
DD1 came home with 2 jacket potatoes that didn't sell and were destined for the bin. She said that there were a few things that she was offered, so maybe a regular thing. I don't mind as they will feed 3 hungry teens lol. Dinner is already sorted but they have been stored and will be used tomorrow either as jackets, or cut up as wedges. She is now filling in the forms to get paid.
Other than the mess that I need to put away from the hall unit, today has been quite productive and successful. Feel more positive and awake than I have in recent weeksMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

1st day of work done for the week. Feel like today I am getting on top of things a little more. I remembered to pick up a few olio bits on the way to work this morning, which will keep the kids in treats for a little while.
I have even remembered to get the sausages out of the freezer ready for tomorrows dinner. I need to make my lunch for tomorrow using yesterdays left overs from roast dinner.
Now home from the children's activities, I'm in my warm pjs and dressing gown and have treated us to an hour of heating. We had a little snow earlier but not settling at all. It is bitter outside though and I am expecting to need to defrost the windscreen in the morning.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

You sound v busy! Hope 24 is lovely and the lounge gets its makeover
Sounds like you getting your meal planning out the way to hopefully relieve some of the pressure..DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Thank you @LadyWithAPlan happy new year to you too.
It is sooo cold in the house. I am sat here under duvets and blankets. I will turn the heating on later so it isn't so cold when we have our showers.
Still no firm meal plan but I did go to the supermarket and get most of what was needed for the meals in my head. I think as soon as I get this meal plan business sorted the food budget and my craziness each day will be much improved. Anyway I know what we are eating today and then tomorrow. I scanned the food shop too, to earn a few extra pennies.
DD1 got her car back today and was happy to pay the £180 ish pounds to have it mended. I must admit I thought it might be more like £500+ to get it mended and was getting ready to discuss if it was worth it. Thankfully she had it back by lunch time and is walking round the house with a grin on her face. She has also applied for another job at the school cleaning. This is the same job she gave up after less than a week as wasn't keen on it! Not sure if they will give her another chance or not, but they are desperate apparently. She has come to realise a job paying £10 ish an hour, no travel as will already be at school, may not be so bad.
Ready for an early night but not until I've been to my dance class. Need to pay for this term too. Hopefully with the longer days eventually coming, it will be easier to get to itMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Again I am sat on the sofa shivering, but too cold to get up and put the heating on lol. Hoping one of the children appears soon or I will have to get up.
Today is my long day at work and it started to drag towards the end, even though I got some good bits done today. I was organised enough to make my lunch last night so there wasn't a need to rush around this morning.
I realised last night that the holiday that I booked was the week that DD1 will get her results. She seemed unphased by this when I told her and said she wouldn't want to go and collect them anyway. As long as she has a good signal and can get her emails that should be fine. I just need to find things to do now while there, so anyone live near to Boston in Lincolnshire, please do let me know if there is anything exciting to do with 3 teens. So far the one thing that looked good has since closed down. And while they have all said they don't want to do anything once there, I need to have a few things sorted just in case.
Right I best get up and turn the heating on as am frozen.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Hi slm, I'm near Boston 🙂
Skegness is not far and there's always stuff to do there, Mablethorpe and Chapel St Leonard's are ok too. The Lincolnshire Wildlife Park isn't far from Boston either and there is Boston Bowl. There's some nice walks like Frampton Marsh, Westwood lakes/Jenny's Wood and Tattershall Lakes. If you want to go a little further then there's Belton House near Grantham, Woodhall Spa is a really nice place or Ferry Meadows in Peterborough.
Hope this helps 🙂Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.
Starting Mortgage Balance (June 2019) £72,000.
Aiming to be mortgage free by my 40th birthday, June 2026!3
