Bought at age 26 in 1986, on a council estate in South East London, 3 bed E.O.T. big front garden, driveway and garage, large rear garden, for £49000, 50% mortgage, 50% compensation from serious accident. Was working on a very low wage in a park in Deptford.

31, southeast...if I actually exchange and complete in the next 5 months!
    Ditto!
9 months ago, aged 30, my dad gifted me some of my deposit to complete within 28 days (reservation condition).

I had just started a new job with higher pay 2 months earlier. EWS1 scandal and COVID hugely delayed the sale, so since March 2020 to now and I've since managed to save enough over the past 9 months to no longer need deposit help from dad - still awaiting completion of the same purchase and stacking up savings for decoration if I ever get there. Silver linings, I guess?!

I refer anyone who doesn't believe it is harder for young people to buy today than ever before to the excellent Generation Rent by Chloe Timperley; hint: avocado toast and mobile phones haven't caused this.

25 and bought a two bed end terrace.  Worked hard to bring a solid but dated and basic house up to date, doing most things myself and learning along the way (replaced the kitchen and bathroom, landscaped the front and rear gardens, boarded the loft, lots of decorating).  15 years later I've just bought my next house a three bed detached - again its solid, but dated.  Lots of potential to extend out and upwards - the adventure starts again!
