£24.84 in Morries, few odds and ends and £4 saver stamps for Christmas, 6 lge 35 wash Ariel, shelf sticker £5, only 2 for me, charged £9, 2 celeriac £1 per kilo, charged £1.25, queued for customer services, which has moved again, nobody to price check my items so she took my word, "how much is 6 x £4" I was buying for two friends too, "I cannot weigh the veg" she didn`t know what it was, so I supplied £24 for the ariel, and the celeriac is roughly over charged 25%, got 85p back for them. Mental arithmetic is a dying ability.Do I need it or just want it.7

Morning all. First food spends of the year for me today. I did a click and collect at Mozzas and had quite a few missing items and subs (to be expected I guess). I went to Sainsbos to get the missing items I needed but no courgettes in either shop! I won't need to do anymore shopping now apart from a bin bag run from the coop and the odd top up. So my food spends total is £75.53/£140 and extras spends total is £6.83/£60.00 so far.7

Great that you've already started your Christmas shopping! I used to do that but we don't do presents any more as it really seems a bit pointless giving someone something and then getting something back from them and half the time not being things you actually want or need!I'm debating costing at 30% or 50% off, as if I bought them at a yellow stick price (my local A!di only does 30% these days), when it comes to deducting from my budget this year. But I'm also planning on tracking full prices, so I can hopefully set a realist budget for next year based on what it would have cost me this year if I hadn't had access to yellow stickers.I mainly buy for my grand-daughters and my OH's niece (she normally stays at mine for a couple of weekends every year, and then we take her away for week as well, so we have a fairly close relationship - she's a year older than my 3rd GD). And then something for my OH, although this last time I got no hints from him at all - so he got a couple of T-shirts and some edibles I know he loves. My parents get something small to open (though in recent years I've also started updating things in their second home - we've been banned from buying them food, booze or anything that will gather dust, and they don't have shared interests that would allow the buying of tickets to anything/anywhere). My elder son gets small things (mostly food or drink) so he has something to open, but he 'borrows' things at various points through the year that don't always reappear. My younger son gets edibles if I see him over the holidays so that he has something to open, but we have an agreement not to buy for each other. My daughter gets something when she needs, which could be at any time through the year. That's amounted to nothing for 2020 so far (apart from a small something to open), but in 2019 I spent more on her than normal as she needed new kitchen knives!
The bits I've picked up are only small novelty items, but one is very appropriate for the older one it's intended for, and the others should keep the two youngest busy for a while (crafty project).

Our first actual spend today - DH went to the local market and spend £28 on fruit and veg. The fishmonger was not there but I have a box of sardines in the freezer so we'll have those instead. Change of plan - we will have omelette or frittata instead as we have lots of eggs! We are trying to keep our Vitamin D levels up with fish, eggs and cheese, as per advice because light levels remain low and exercise is less than normal. I have also been debited for milk, which is £7.90 per weekSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far
I also Reverse Meal Plan on that thread and grow much of our own premium price fruit and veg, joining in on the Grow your own thread

A few spends this week for a total of £135.91/£450 but I did get some good bargains.
- Christmas pate reduced
- mushrooms and carrots from the £1 shelf
- a tray of free range eggs for £3!!! they're short dated but we eat a lot of eggs and have stepkids for the weekend so no concern there :-)
- multipack crisps on offer so stocked up
- a large jar of Meridian peanut butter for £1.99 - small is usually about £3
Only meat needed was ham (gammon) for lunch etc. Week's meals were planned from stocks so happy at this stage of the month.August Grocery Challenge £161.27/£400.007 -
Right, have pulled myself up by my complaining bootstraps and told myself to get back on the wagon, so I'm heaving myself over the tailboard very slowly but surely.
I set a budget of £4 per day for this month and have two spends to record of £15.56 and £17.53 which makes a total of £33.09 to date so I'm £1.09 adrift which isn't too bad this early in the month. I'm having to shop at a city centre M*rks food hall and a city centre Sainsby's currently, I do anticipate being able to lower my daily budget considerably when I can travel to the Lidl on the ring road."She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."

Hello I would like to join please. I have looked at spends from last year. Prior to lockdown it was around 330 per month ( DH was buying work lunch separately and anything I spent at work not included) however this was spends including take outs / eating out and all cleaning products toiletries etc. There’s 2 adults an one little one.
when lockdown happened I had relatively nothing in the house so each month since have been buying extras to top up empty cupboards and freezer.
so spend March to November around 400 per month even though we only ate out 4 times in that time! I have changed the way I shop and buy most fresh food at farm shop, and use supermarket for cupboard items.December was just over 500 spent as lots of treats were purchased. As we spent Christmas on our own lots of treats still left!
Now in January I plan to only buy milk fruit veg as I can use what’s in the freezer and cupboards!
so far have spent 35.20 and will aim for 160 this month 🤔7 -
Morning all, haven't been in a shop for the last few days other than picking up cold & flu tablets on thursday evening that I've yet to use (felt like I had a cold coming but hasn't amounted to anything). Got a delivery from Mr T coming tomorrow so will add that once it's arrived. I also need to pick up milk today as we've completely run out. I've also just purchased a whole beef fillet to cut into steaks from the local meat shop as it was a great price. Will be hubby's birthday treat (today) and then some for the freezer. Worked out cheaper than a takeaway and will probably do about 8 steaks.Grocery Challenge 2024
