Well, I'm off into the January budget with £30 spent at the market this morning on fruit, veg, a tray of eggs and some cheese, £15.21 at the supermarket (which sadly included 2 boxes of mince pies at 25p each; up 'til now we've only had home-made but I've used up all the mincemeat!) and I've just remembered to add £22.95 on the wet cat food from Amaz0n, which should arrive on Monday. We should be set for the week now, BUT DS3 is still here so there may be a little extra expenditure. It's not yet clear when he'll be going back, as his uni is in Tier 4, but he only has about 8 weeks now until he hands his dissertation in & returns to the fold until he chances upon some paid employment. Or another course, quite possibly! He's only been a student for a mere 10 years...
I made a massive batch of "Turkey-a-leeky" soup from the turkey carcass this morning; I froze it on Boxing Day until there was time to do something sensible with it. Having two chest freezers on the go has definitely given me useful options I didn't realise I didn't have before! When the old one does finally die & become a grain store, I might see if I can find a secondhand one to replace it, though I'll need to clear some more space in the garage first.
I will need to go & get some poultry corn from the farm shop at some point soon; I may also need some layer's mash as the last sack was inadvertently left out in the rain for a couple of days. They are plastic sacks, but I think they have tiny holes for ventilation; the contents look "clumped" & I don't want to feed my birds anything suspect whilst they're "locked down" & not getting as much greenery etc. as they're used to. It's only another £7 or so, but with an extra (28 y.o. male) mouth to feed for an unknown length of time, every penny's going to count!Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)5 -

Mr Porridge did the shopping this morning as he does his mum's as well and they're asking for only one person per household to shop. He reports that, that guideline was definitely not being followed in our local L*dl with families out in force. He reckons it was chaos and they had completely sold out of cat fud. The market was shut so he had to get fruit and veggies at L*dl as well and the butcher was also closed but we can cope without. The total was £18.99 which is good but I'll have to get some other bits and pieces during the week on my way back from work. I've been quite lucky picking up meat bargains at 90p around 6pm so I'll go on the days I'm late. With the £36 for loo roll that adds unto £54.99 this week (although hopefully we have the loo roll for a few months)Mortgage Free 23 December 2020

£30.28 spent today on mainly fresh produce and bits for me to make meals with what’s in the freezer. DH did get a few ‘treats’ for himself too because he now thinks he’s going to be rationed and/or starved - never letting him go shopping again...

I'm off the mark with a £3.27 spend - mostly on juice as I was 1 drink away from running out of diluting juice. Forgot to buy it in my pre NY food shop. A reduced Pizza also bought. Guess everyone is trying to be virtuous in the NY as there were loads of them!Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

First shop for January budget. Spent a total of £70.95 and to be honest, not really finished it either, but there's enough to last a few days. Part of this spend includes household stuff - laundry detergent (should last a while though), rinse aid for dishwasher, some other bits too. And then went to Ald! And Tesc0 for potatoes, bread, butter milk etc. Some bits for tomorrow's dinner, pork tenderloin, dried mushrooms, white wine and stuff for dinner tonight, along with some rubs/hot sauces.February Grocery Budget: £190.75/£350.00
