Neighbours built Avery overhanging my garden

They don't care about you, so just tell them to remove it. Who erected it? Builders?
Some people have such high opinions of themselves and think they can get away with this!2 -

You’re probably right. I have had parrots all my life so a bit oversensitive!silverwhistle said:I think most of the chainsaw suggestions have been tongue in cheek: my incinerator one certainly was, I hasten to add!0 -

Maybe it's a prison for birds and they are all doing... bird?tigerlily74 said:For everyone advising chainsaws etc remember there will be innocent birds in there. I hope you get it resolved op.
Give people a chance to put things right, but don't be a pushover.2 -
Well I just knocked and she said it’s not staying like that so I’ll give them a chance to rectify it before I do anything else. I told her it will need guttering too. I don’t think she was actually listening to me but they’ve paid a handyman to do it so next time he’s there I’ll collar him and make sure it’s done properly and within their fence.Mortgage started August 2020 £69,700

Agree a timescale with your neighbour otherwise this could go on forever. A polite note confirming your conversation giving the agreed timescale to rectify would be good in the event that things escalate.

If it's not staying like that, then they could've had the courtesy to speak to you first before doing the job to tell you this!

Spot on! Any normal neighbour who is obviously aware of it would have flagged it to you and intercepted any issue before it happened.Abbafan1972 said:If it's not staying like that, then they could've had the courtesy to speak to you first before doing the job to tell you this!

I smell BS with what the neighbour said - could have been said just to get rid of the OP.Barny1979 said:

Haha probably. We have a bit of a weird relationship with them. They’re nice to our faces but not so much behind our backs. I’ll give them time though. If they haven’t sorted it in the new year we have the tools and will just cut off the part that overhangs us. It shouldn’t affect the birdies as the roof will still be fully covered.Abbafan1972 said:

Total disregard for people.I hope the person that mentioned rats is wrong because I would be in a state then. We had mice for the first 2.5 years we lived here and it cost me thousands sealing up the house and replacing all the skirtings to make it mouse tight. Rats can just eat through to get in can’t they.Mortgage started August 2020 £69,700

I hope you get sorted with them.
With regards to rats, unfortunately they will be a problem. Its easy feeding for them as a lot of the bird food/seed will fall to the bottom of aviary.1
