Buying a Mattress

I have this one (it's on a decent sale right now) and when it needs replacing i will get the same one again. It's a solid, good mattress for a very reasonable price. there's a reason it's been on the market for years. I have previously had a foam mattress and I'll never get one of those again. They are cleverly marketed but not worth the price tag and the ones I've had have been way too hot and soft to sleep on, especially in the summer.

I've just taken delivery of a new mattress from Costco, you'd need to be a member or know someone who is. It's a Silentnight Miracoil firm one and it was only £200 including delivery and old one removed. It has a five year warranty. It's "one sided" meaning you don't need to turn it over but you do need to turn it top to bottom now and then. I have quite an expensive memory foam topper on it and it works well for me.0

I’m after a new mattress and willing to invest - a good nights sleep is hugely important. Reviews on apparently ‘trusted’ sites and newspapers all rave about the premium versions of the Simba and Eve mattresses. They are hybrid and the details sound enticing but my house is generally very warm and I am a warm sleeper so worried of the memory foam aspects of the hybrid, but they claim to be cool. Any experiences of them on here?I'm part Swedish, part Italian, all British.0

Online foam mattresses are great to start with but they scarcely stay that way.I bought a King size Leesa mattress in January 2017 and loved it for the first couple years as it was just me using it, sleeping like a starfish. Little did I know the mattress was starting to dip in the middle. I got married early last year and since then this mattress isn't great anymore. Me and the Mrs always converge in the middle of the mattress during the night as it's clearly sunk. The other issue with this and other foam mattresses is that they retain a lot of heat. Again, it wasn't so bad when it was just me, but now since there are two of us sleeping in the bed, and the dipping issue brings us closer, sometimes the heat is really intolerable, especially during summers. We're actually about to buy this brand new mattress from Benson for Beds. https://www.bensonsforbeds.co.uk/products/bespoke-pure-tranquility-mattress/?sku=758523640It's made of natural materials so very breathable and cooling, plus it has 4000 springs so it shouldn't dip. Comes with a 10 year guarantee. We tried it in the store and it was like sleeping on a cloud.Just be wary of those online foam mattresses that come vacuum packed and promise all the perks under the sun. Most of these companies have excellent reviews as they offer buyers the potential to get the full price of the mattress off if they leave a quick review. Its clever marketing on their side. There are reports of their refund policies not being worth it at all on several websites. The guardian ran something interesting a while back. https://www.theguardian.com/money/2019/nov/09/we-bought-a-simba-mattress-but-were-sleeping-on-the-sofa

I'm not a big fan of these foam mattresses myself, I find them far too warm too. I've a decent pocket sprung mattress with all natural fillings and it's been perfect for the many years I've owned it. It's well over the "optimum" period when you should replace a mattress but it's still very comfortable. The only issue, because it is hand constructed with decent materials is that it's very heavy and a bit of a pain when it comes to having to turn it, on the other hand my dad recently got one of the recommended Ikea pocket sprung mattresses that comes rolled up and he thinks it's great.0
