so sorry to hear this. Hope you're ok. If ever here was a time to crack open the (generic) baileys now is the time!
I've enjoyed my day off. Went for a walk along the coast with dog, madam rode her bike.
Came home and did TOMM - did lounge for yesterday and bedrooms for today. Still need to hang up washing, put new washing up and do some bathroom cleaning. Washed sofa cushion - don't know why I'm particularly bothering as no-one coming!
NSD
making some giganti plaki for dinner with rice, salad bits and chicken. Enough for lunch for tomorrow as well
My friend dropped round some gifts. Stood on the doorstep (well 2 mtrs away) and we had a baileys. She gave me a pair of leopard print jeans for my birthday which I LOVE (I have a real thing for leopard print. I never knew I would turn in the Bet Lynch as I got older? But there you go!)
Did some sewing on my dress while madam was playing with friends on RoadBlox. I am about 98% finished. Made a slight error on the sleeve so need to unpick a small bit and re-do, attach 2nd sleeve and put elastic in wrist casing and it's done! Might do that when madam goes to bed and make dd a couple of face masks
Reading free book via library e-book. Its called The End of Mr Y. It's so good. Really recommend!DF as at 30/12/16

Evening all
Road trip today to take presents for DD1's children, plus the large coat stand that has been blocking up my dining room for weeks. It is in the form of a large mummy bear looking up a tree at her baby bear, and I love it, BUT it is huge and it really needed to go 'home' after its restoration by OH. DD1's mother in law, who owns it, was delighted to have it home (almost as delighted as me lol). Had a chat, socially distanced in their barn with mugs of hot soup. Not sure if this is officially permitted or not, neither of us are in a high tier. Probably not. I have lost track
Soup was much needed as it is an absolutely horrible day. Now home, stove lit and dinner on the way
Lol at DNMS dressing up as Bett Lynch
I definitely couldn't carry that off! Hope you will post a pic of your dress when it is completed.Sorry to hear about your oven CLF (all you need at this time of the year at the best of times). Have you got a back up of some kind (halogen oven, instant pot or that other thing that La E was raving about the other day)? Also re the positive test. Hope you are both asymptomatic and don't get ill. What a nuisance though
Not much done apart from driving (1.5 hours each way). Traffic wasn't bad. We did walk the dog first thing, between rain, then took him with us as he loves it there.Dinner will be jacket potatoes, salad and quiche. Made some nice coleslaw to go with it too
Aiming for an early night as for some reason I got very little sleep last night

Oh my days, CLF.... that's all you need to top off this rubbish year.
Hope you haven't picked up the virus & that you can get a new oven or elemwnt sorted out as soon after Christmas as possible. We need one too, though ours still works atm...... we noticed online that there are very few gas ovens available in stock which fit our available space, so I am very much hoping they are not all sitting in that huge bavklog of shipping containers at Felixstowe. I have risk-assessed the situation & if the oven does decide to conk out before we have sourced an appropriate replacement, we have the hob, a small camping stove, a barbecue & a slow cooker.
Nice to catch up with what everyone is doing. Off to make bread & biscuits now.
F x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!3 -
Morning folks
Bit out of it today as had a pretty sleepless night. OH def has a cough and I think was running a slight temperature last night. He did cool right down after application of a paracetamol at 4am. I have a cough too, although def seems chesty. We should get the OH's results this morning with any luck.
My neighbour has very kindly gone to get m-i-l's turkey for me (all paid for, just needed to be picked up). She is calling round later for the presents and the food. Although if OH comes back positive, maybe she won't want the gifts? You can't really wash down wrapping paper.
Assuming all is normal, we need to finish off the chocolates for my s-i-l and that's it in terms of presents prep and etc
Hope everyone has a good day

Regarding the nonavailability of cookers, I needed a new electric one a few weeks ago & had great difficulty getting the one that I wanted. I did intend to buy from a local independent shop but was told that there was a nationwide shortage due to a problem in China. Maybe the fact that a lot of the manufacturing is done there, or due to covid, the shop owner couldn't tell me. I looked at several online companies without success, but in the end managed to get the one f I wanted from B@@ts Kitchen Appliances. I ordered it one day & it arrived 2 days later - their service was first class.foxgloves said:Oh my days, CLF.... that's all you need to top off this rubbish year.

Afternoon all
Not feeling great today, due I think to lack of sleep the night before last. Very tired, and a bit headachey with a slightly scratchy throat. Taking paracetamol in the hope it will pass. Not sure if I am going down with something, or if it is just a wiped out day due to my health condition (happens every week or so). Time will tell I suppose. Not much done, but I have:Early morning dog walk. Walked almost into town, so that OH could stop off at the paper shop and get a TV mag.Put a load of stuff away in top floor spare room / eaves cupboard. Boxes, toys, packaging stuff for my online business, etc. I now have a clear sitting room, hall and dining room
Changed bed. Not washed linen yet due to shocking weather. Supposed to be better tomorrow.Made leek and potato soup for lunchNot much else planned. There is leftover pie for dinner, only need to warm it up and do some veg to go with it. Then watch some rubbish TV and get an early night!2 -
I hope you feel beeter soon Dawn!
I've just finished all the chocolates. Wore a mask while doing it in a nod to trying to be hygeinic. Still waiting for OH's result... OH didn't want to help with the chocs as he didn't want to wear his mask so I told him that he was doing the washing up
Just about to sit down with a mince pie and a coffee now

Morning guys - darn what a time of it you are having CLF. Fingers crossed its a regular cold. That's what happened to us, I was in isolation as came in to contact with someone who then tested positive and then in the period h cae down with something. His test came back negative thankfully so it was just your bog standard cold.
Yippee finished work till next weds (and evening then I'm only "in" for 1 day and then off again for 9
The joys of p/t working. Although the pay is rubbish!)
Yesterday was payday so paid all my bills - need to go and pay off various things from various pots. all a bit chaotic atm!
Have done 15 mins TOMM in kitchen. still have 15 mins left and not much left to do! Might give the hall a once over instead. Think I could get it done in 15 mins
Finally going to finish my dress! Need to do an alteration on shoulders/sleeve and add elastic to sleeve hems and it's done
take dog for a nice long woodland walk
Prep some veg for tomorrow and cook gammon joint
Tonight we are doing our Brazilian tradition evening san the outlaws - where we have a hot plate grill thing on the table, and have a leisurely meal, chatting, playing games, eating and end it with a gift before bed
Think that's my lot!DF as at 30/12/16
