any tips for appealing on the grounds of financial difficulty?

i have received a ticket and it was a genuine error on my part. but to pay even the reduced £60 (if in 14 days) it would be a big hit. i accept that it was an unintentional error on my part and i am willing to make an offer. of £15. More than the daily parking charge. has anybody ever proposed a reduced fine and if so was it sucessful?

It seems hard to see that the driver's finances could really come into it for a parking charge of £60, which is about the same as the cost of a tank of fuel in the average family saloon car.
If I were the parking company and that approach was used as an excuse, or even "exceptional" circumstance, then I would suggest the driver cannot afford to run a car and they should sell the car to raise the funds to pay the ticket.

i hear what you are saying but wondered if anybody has ever offered a smaller amount which is more proportionate to the "loss" if any that the company had. there is a firm which suggests that if you pay it £18 then the fine is dealt with but i'm not sure

Perhaps that £18 covers their work and is in addition to anything you may owe the parking company?

Have a look at that company's TrustPilot reviews before deciding to throw away another £18.

Yes check out the reviews of the company which charges £18, but the fee charged is for the leg work to handle any appeal etc.

hi. the firm is very good at replying to messages on facebook and the reviews on trustpilot are good BUT as the error was mine I am not sure how the appeal would go  with or without the  £18 firm.

I think the one you're thinking of has gone out of the picture (and was charging £20 at last count). The one I think the OP is referencing is one offered by a coloured fish of these waters.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Thanks but the firm I am talking about is charging £18 and still in existence. I know that MSE forum has a newbie thread but I can't find it.
