Flycards arrived today; thank you everyone and lovely angel Pigpen. Also chocolate.
This morning I did a bit more of a report.
Sorted a load of post.
Made 2 more flower arrangements; 1 for MIL and 1 for friend's birthday. 1 more to go which is the centrepiece for the dining room table - at least with only 2 of us there will be room for an arrangement too. Still a bit of debris in kitchen but once that arrangement is done I can put it all away and empty buckets etc.
Put any Xmas decs etc not needed up in the loft to get them out of the way.
Zoom catchup with one friend and rang another.
Care home is closed to visitors for 28 days so we went over to drop off presents for MIL. Seems strange and a bit sad for me to be so near her, at the front door, and not be able to see her - so it must feel a lot worse for Mr N.
Dropped off friend's flowers.
Wandered round a very empty Hertford taking more photos of 'yarn-bombed' letter boxes and just enjoying the lights. Took a deep breath and headed for Mr Al which to our joy was no problem at all, very few people in there and no queues even for the till. Got everything we wanted so we're really pleased with our afternoon. BIL sent a message to say that they have been sent home (he works at Mr T warehouse) as all the incoming supplies are stuck in the lorry queue at Dover or Calais. His local Mr T has a queue all up the road.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.10 -
DS has never stopped eating since he came home from Uni. He had steak pie, chips and veg and is now wondering whether there is pudding. I had a £150 shop delivered on Monday but not much in the way of puddings, unless someone makes one, which is not going to happen. He can have a mince pie and some cake.
Bit of finishing off to do tomorrow then that's it for the paid stuff until 4th Jan, I am so ready for a break.

Natty.. my nanna always had long sleeve thermal ones. She called them her ‘hug-me’ like these.. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324362204195
She wore them all year.. and big proper granny pants.. avoid lace edges as they can chafe older skin especially if seated a lot of the time. And 100% cotton so they can be washed at hot temperatures.

Feeling v. pleased. Kitchen and bathroom cleaned, DD vacuumed stairs, binbag dance done - bin out. It's maybe a third full. Tea was linguine carbonara (made by DD) while I made a Tarte Tatin with the dessert appple glut and the YS puff pastry which I taook out of the freezer last might. Spare puff pastry has been transformed into Eccles-type mince puffs to use up some of my HM mincemeat. Washing up done (Some stuff that can't go in the DW) and a baking tray soaking. Tomorrow I will be making beef stew in the SC.
Friend brought my Christmas gift so I was able to reciprocate, along with some of the satsuma glut and a jar of preserved satsumas in brandy.
Towels in WM.
DD and I have been to Mr S as we were seeking scallops (starter for Xmas day). Other bits bought. They are prepping for their sales. Spice inventory updated as I have bought a new pot of Curry Powder. My spice list now includes use by dates.
Chocs bought for one NDN. Need wine to go with it and box of beers for other NDN who mows my lawn everytime he mows hos own.

Good evening!
I have just caught up on the thread. Sending huge (((hugs))) your way Fayolle
We did our food shop at Mr S yesterday, and it was ok. Other than maybe a loaf & some yoghurts from the local co0p, I think we are done until after Christmas. All presents bought, most of them wrapped.
Paid stuff today - very busy finishing off Christmas crafts. I had a lovely message from the boys' mum thanking me for the decorations they have made. Its nice to be appreciated 😊 I have given myself the day off on Christmas eve 😁 2 out of the 3 boys I should have had have been cancelled. Mum & dad run a gym (we are tier 4), and her dad is coming over Christmas day, so they have all been tested & are isolating until then. I had a lightbulb moment of offering to have the 3rd child tomorrow (all day) instead of 4 hours on Thursday. Mum is delighted, and I get the day off. Win-win!! We will make Christmas cards tomorrow, and watch some Christmas films i think!
I had better sleep now. I need to walk the dog, vac the LR & WULTD before I start in the morning.
Night night all!10 -
Good morning everyone, feeling cheerful and motivated this morning. OH has just announced that it's looking likely we will be able to get away this afternoon if I drive and he works on his phone, when he came home last night it wasn't looking so good at all. So FLYing this morning
HHI, the washing is now up to date except what we took off yesterday which can stay in the laundry basket until we get back.
Banking and finances checked and updated
Bed made and bedroom tidied
I have 3 hours to pack our clothes etc, bring all the presents downstairs, sort out any last minute cooking utensils I want, sort through fridge and use leftovers for lunch. Cats trays need to changed. We will pack the car at lunchtime, if I've got everything done I will paint my nails that way they can dry whilst OH finishes up his work that needs the computer and then we'll be ready to go.
Keeping my fingers crossed as it sounds easy, but so often our plans get changed at the last minute because of yet another crisis in the factory. We are so used to last minute changes in this house!
Hugs to all, xx10
