Arriving back from this morning's soggy dog walk I found the window cleaner doing his thing and a pile of Flylady Christmas cards - thank you, thank you, thank you. Our glass angel from the top of the tree got broken last year (wretched three year old 'kittens') so we now have a perfect, new, totally suitable tree-topper which will give us a lot of pleasure. We make a five pointed star on the kitchen railings from 5' long windfalls branches, and then decorate it with all sorts of old treasures rather than have a tree any more because the 'kittens' kept destroying it during their first year with us. We now love the star so much we got rid of the 25 year old B&Q tree last year. The Hospice shop loved that donation two weeks before Christmas!Fayolle, I hope your daughter's appointment goes smoothly and you get some good news from it. (((Hugs)))I'm so sorry some people's Christmas celebrations are in disarray after the announcements. I can't say anything else because I'd say far, far too much if I started. We're still being as careful as we were from the very start of the pandemic, long before Lockdown was announced in March, and arranged with the friends that we always spend a couple of days with every year that we're not doing so this year months ago. We'll still cook the turkey and they'll still be doing the veg, so I'm driving the champagne-fuelled chef and turkey up there to be carved in the open air at about 2.30, pick up the cooked veg, and swap presents - all at a safe distance. We've organised a socially-distanced Christmas Carol sing-a-thing for 6.00 pm Christmas Eve in the communal garden, with our resident musician and composer as MD on his trusty trumpet, mulled wine (bring your own glasses/mugs) and hot mince pies. The houses are just far enough apart for it to work safely and the forecast is a clear night. This is a Christmas we're going to remember for a very long time and I have no intention of letting it be a miserable experience.Layla has responded fantastically well to all the treatment for her thrombocytopenia and she's now down to half a steroid every other day while we wait for yet another blood test result. We've been incredibly lucky with her in every way but it's been a very long haul. At the beginning she struggled when she was taken in for her bloodtests but now trots in very happily without a backward glance at me, so I know the care she's getting is the kindest possible. All the vets and nurses have been wonderful in incredibly trying circumsances, so I'll never be able to thank them enough for saving her and being so gentle with her.Flying's sort of happening in a shambolic and utterly slatternly way, but yesterday I kept up the Flylady Christmas tradition of clearing the ironing. I'm very proud of that, although pretty ashamed of the state most of the house is in. Still, you can't have it all.
Better is good enough.11 -

Washing done, sort of semi dry via the TDFlowers taken to my mother's grave for her birthday / Christmas, SIL had been as well and left a very pretty laurel wreath she had made.It is still drizzling and looks like it will be all tonight, I wanted to see the 'bright star' tonight I gather about 6.30pm or so, but the cloud cover is low here, so may have to do with photos on internet..I've cleaned round, all presents are wrapped and labelled, I've bought some extra food, but not much as the freezer is full.Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

Thank you to all who sent Flylady cards and extras! I had just cleared the kitchen windowsill when the postman arrived, so they are in their usual place and make me very happy to have such a great bunch of friends
(And just in case anybody is worried about the cards getting splashed from the WU, you need'n't, as the sink is against the party wall, well away from the window!)
I have done the first half of my list. I am about to take Rosie out and will decorate the tree if I have enough energy when we get back - after I've had my cuppa, of course. DH has bought the online concert ticket for tonight
Oh, and I successfully paid in a cheque using the bank's phone app today - that's more progress.8 -
Co ntents of other house checked from a distance as girls already there. Shopping list made and sent to them. Not sure how it'll work but very happy not to have to endure any Christmas shopping crowds.

Thank you SO much for my Flylady cards I absolutely love them and they’ve made me so happy. I love you all xx
Lazy day here; I have some tests on 23rd to establish what is causing me to feel so rundown. Christmas is low key here anyway so the changes don’t impact us thankfully.
I am heading for a nap now xx9 -
Presents dropped at DB's - had a SD chat at the door. DSil has baked me some Christmas goodies- woot woot.
Car started first time both times- I must be getting the hang of the 'knack' 🙂
Home now and cabinned in for the night. I ought to fly but my book is asking me to sit and read it. Who am I to refuse????
