I can offer no practical advice, but wish to comment that I absolutely ****ing hate crappy stylised photos like that lot.fsttb said:Sorry it isn’t helpful without knowing the location, it’s this property https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/85529773#/media?id=media10 -
Arggh flashback of going to that very supermarket before a visit to the world's worst nightclub Paradise Lost/Kudos.eddddy said:As an example, if you give Streetcheck the postcode "WD17 1PE" (which relates to a supermarket and nothing else), it gives details of 188 properties around that supermarket.
As Streetcheck explains for the above supermarket postcode:0 -
No it wouldn`t be unusual, that would be normal, many more addresses in fact.davidmcn said:Are you sure you mean "postcode"? It would be unusual for one postcode to cover as many as 123 addresses.Obviously the 29 owned by the council aren't going to feature anyway, and right-to-buy purchases don't show up in the normal sales data, only if somebody subsequently sold on the open market. RTB buyers tend to be an older demographic (by the time they've accumulated any right/discount) so less likely to be upsizing / moving for work / new partners etc.0 -
Can`t see it holding it`s value in the present economic mess, you would only buy something like that at that price if you absolutely loved living there for a long time IMO.fsttb said:Thanks all, I checked Rightmove as well and there are only 4 and none in the last two years. How do I evaluate the price if there is no history in the area to compare with ? I am worried about the property holdings it’s value if we ever have to move out and if there would be demand0 -
Please give us an example of any postcode with that many addresses. The average number of delivery points per postcode is 17.Crashy_Time said:

What a crock. It wouldn't be usual for a postcode to cover more, nor many more, than 123 addresses.Crashy_Time said:

Here's a fact for you to counter. The postcode with the most doors is W2 1JB, with about 100. I didn't count them all. Name some bigger ones, it shouldn't be hard if what you said was true.1 -
A postcode area is the first three digits.0

Back on topic, your biggest concern will be that without the reality check of actual sales sellers are likely to be still stuck in Kite Flyer mode.0

Crashy I believe you're British and perfectly understand the difference between postcode area and postcode:
- Scroll up
- Read this page and fail to see "area"
- Issue climb-down humble apology for being wrong and misleading the OP
I know on past form you'll do 2 of the above2 -
I called up the local council, they couldn't confirm as to exactly which properties are council-owned as often they are managed by HA etc however they did mention that the block of garages behind the property belongs to Council. They don't look to be in use as we found plants just in front of Garage doors. There are a block of flats in Verona close opposite to the property, they are dated, not sure if they are HA, I called up the company 'Remus' which manages the property but they didn't reveal much. Should I be concerned about the garages owned by Council? I spoke to a couple of people on the street behind and they said there are some council-owned houses.0
