At least they reported it correctly as a Charge rather than as a Fine.
PS - I used to live not too far from the Metrocentre many years ago. I remember it being built and when it first opened ... it was (at the time) the biggest retail centre in Europe, possibly the world.

That article says the sign was ''probably meant for the other 'Metro' car park nearby''. But clearly not, the signs say 'METROCENTRE'!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Probably the draft copy for the signwriters being thrown together by a no-tick, wetting their pants and salivating at the thought of starting to farm a mahoosive retail site!Coupon-mad said:That article says the sign was ''probably meant for the other 'Metro' car park nearby''. Doh! 🤦♂️Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

The signs will end up being complicated because the firms are relying on contract law to make their terms enforceable. Their cluttered signs have been challenged and it seems they may drop cases sent to POPLA. UKPC do seem quite well organised to me, so I'm wondering if they have just invented this 4 hours themselves. ,or sneaked it into some contract.
In this case though, I'd presume they have cost businesses a lot of money with people unaware the restriction 'does not apply', and therefore vacating the complex when they may have wanted to spend more money there.
As with the poster, I'd be concerned that UKPC may well still invoice people on the grounds that their signs form a contract, or of course also they may claim 'a mistake'.
LOL at the bad publicity though.

Why not email Steve Clark and ask whether he is aware of it and what on earth happened, and can he confirm ALL PCNs (even those paid) have been cancelled?wannadancewithsomebody said:

If the car park is totally free anyway, where does UKPC fit in ?
It's not as if UKPC manage car parks, they just farm them for money.
An error they say ....... maybe most UKPC car parks are an error ?2
