kokolino23 said:Hello,We've bought online a washing machine from Currys (quite an expensive one!) and doesn't fit nicely under our kitchen cupboard. I thought they're standard sizes but the new washing machine is bigger (60cm depth) than the old one (54cm) so comes out quite a bit.I struggle to think about a good reason to exchange/return it as I don't think the above will convince them.Should I play stupid and tell them that is too noisy or we don't like the detergent dosage, doesn't connect to the WiFi or the app is useless ?!My wife loves the washing machine but seing it longer that the worktop on a daily basis is doing my headache. Thanks a lot
I don't think you have to "play" stupid OP.
However - Curry's T&Cs, easily found on their website: "For items bought online or over the phone, unwanted items can be returned even if you have opened them for inspection. You can examine the goods as you would in a shop but to obtain a full refund you must not start using them, install them or input any data/software. The goods must be returned in ‘as new’ condition and in their original packaging. As our customer services team are very busy at the moment, we’ve extended the amount of time you have to return opened products from 14 to 21 days.
If you purchased in-store, and the product is unopened and is pristine condition, then we’re giving you extra time to return your product, you’ll have 21 days from your local store re-opening."

It sounds like you've been using it, so unless it's genuinely faulty, you won't be able to return it for a full refund. The reasons you're considering fabricating can all easily be checked by Currys, so I doubt that little scheme will work.1

If it was bought online then you can return it even if you've used it - Currys have no choice in the matter - as long as you notify them within 14 days of delivery and return it within 14 days of notifying them. You can't expect a full refund though.2

You're right and I've measured it. The worktop is a standard one and it's 60cm - in actual fact a bit longer as we've got a quartz one and was custom made, the space underneath 60cm. What we didn't realise waw that the drain pipe is fitted behind the washing machine and that takes space. We only found out about it when we took the old washing machine out.

No but I took the plastic film off, the packaging was removed by the delivery team when they took it into the house.

We didn't use it, just connected it up and then when we pushed it in, we realised that won't go all the way to the back as the old machine did because of the draining pipe.

As above, no harm in seeing what Currys can do.
Is there a way you can make it fit? What's behind the machine? Is it a wall you can create a recessed channel in for the drain hose to fit into?1
