I have obtained a copy of the settlement /enquiry response the sale was based on and it clearly states the offer was valid until 30/6/20 and also that the last payment was made by us on 29/5/20 - therefore it was clear the payment of 29/6/20 had not been paid .

To be fair I've not had Ford agreements but others I've had have stated the settlement figure is based on all payments being made up to the date that settlement expires - in this case you would have been expected to make the 29/6 payment.

Have you the exact wording of the settlement quote ?

    Hi

I agree it says that but we weren't given that at the time - we had no paperwork which is clear in the letter they sent us.

We agreed terms verbally and maybe we were naïve but as we sold the car before the date payment was due assumed any figure they quoted wouldn't have included a payment they hadn't received?

I guess it stops people regurgitating the advice all ready given.
Have you asked Ford Credit what period the payment made on 29/7 covered?

Payments taken in arrears. So you would still owe for the month you sold the car to the dealer, less 2 days.
Cancelling a DD straight away is never a good idea, as they are often used for any overpayment refunds. Lucky thre is not a charge for a failed DD.

2nd thread on same subject, when 1st  thread replies covered it nicely. Smacks of did not like the answers 1st time.

Probably to stop people wasting their time volunteering advice you've already had.
  • So this is now THREE threads on exactly the same topic? (There's one in Motoring today also).
