2021 MISSION DECLUTTER and CLEAN

Hi Everyone,
I haven't posted for a few weeks as real life got in the way and we had a few major things to get through as a family.
Life getting back to normal now though, so no excuse!
I took a load of used batteries to recycling - trying my DS on rechargables but he claims they dont last in xbox controller.
Sorted his room and got rid of a carrier bag of bits, not anything specific just useless bits of things we kept for some reason. Now in bin.
Changed some furniture in his room - moved his TV cabinet into living room as better than ours. He has wall mounted TV and more space in his room. He moved his bed to a different place too so now his room looks bigger.
This means I have old TV cabinet to get out of house (prob to dump).
I sold a dress in a fb group - £20. Nothing wrong with it and it fits but I just don't reach for it so better it has a new home.

1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. CLEAN ONE ROOM (TOP TO BOTTOM) EVERY MONTH (hopefully 3 weekly by the end of the year)Easter Sunday was a gloriously sunny day 🙂 but still with the very chilly breeze 🥶
Did sweet f...y adams 😉 DH spent the day watching MotoGP races. Lunch was sandwiches. Dinner was the other half of the brisket I bought from the butchers between lockdowns 😉 - slow cooked in oven for 5 hours - with a barbecue sauce, mash, cauliflower & carrots - delicious 😋 🤤 Plenty left for another 3 person dinner. Wudupa.A very strange TV experience today - plan out what to watch - first hour of Midsomer Murders, then turn over to watch Line of Duty then to +1 channel to watch the 2nd hour of Midsomer Murders 😉 I suppose I should contact Sky but I thought I would avoid the weekend & probably the BH.DB phoned from Germany - he is now fully documented so won’t be kicked out because of Br*xit 😉 - did receive the Easter Eggs 🙂 - he was very chatty & did a tour of his property showing us all the outside work he & his wife have done with the help of their 2 boys & his in-laws. DSis also received a call from her son 🙂Another annoyance today - ants on the kitchen windowsill - I squished them all but means BH Monday will be spent finding out where they have come from 😔 Never mind, a good excuse to empty & clean cupboards, wash kitchen floor etc 😉
716 - 721 Kitchen recycling, 3 booklets, magazine, cardboard box - recycled
722 - 723 Kitchen detritus, plastic packaging - binnedA mild hangover is a good excuse to be sluggish, EnergyShifter 😉 & exactly the right attitude to your lapse 😉😉👏 Such a shame about your geranium plants 😔Wow Gem-gem 🤩, you have been busy indoors & outdoors 👏 Fingers crossed for successful boot fairs 🤞 mitigate some of the cost of the new roof 😉 Your luck has already started - you found the missing masks 🙂Great work GrannyKate 👏
Good work TC77 👏 I am still behind ☹️ & you are moving farther ahead ☹️😉Well done villagelife 👏 Sounds like you had a lovely day 🙂
I have to disagree vulpix 😉 Remember we are all extraordinary in our own way & yet another cancer survivor 🙂 Thank you for sharing your experience & reminding us all to accept our breast screening appointments - yes I do 🙂 Fingers crossed that the weather stays fine for you & your DD1 re the gardening 🤞Great work Gers 👏 I think there is something deeply satisfying about binning ancient food stuffs 😉 notwithstanding the waste. I am waiting for you to bin something dated in the 70’s 😉😉Emm-in-a-pickle, you have a real talent for making me smile - ‘Domestic Archeology’ indeed 🙂😉🙂 Perhaps Gers can look at the larder decluttering in the same way 😉
I hope you have a very successful sales drive short_bird 🤞& earn oodles of cash 🙂👏
Now, now nannywindow insert wagging finger emoji 🙂 Physical decluttering comes way, way behind making your DGD happy 😊 I am impressed with all the cleaning & sorting of paperwork which absolutely counts as decluttering 👏👏 Plodding along is good - remember Aesop’s Tortoise & Hare fable 🙂
Absolutely love the picture you painted, leelad 👏🥳 What a great use of your time - one medal 🏅 on its way 🙂 - a job done that I don’t think you were particularly looking forward to 😉 & the imminent pleasure of having a great day with your daughter & building yourself up to attend a funeral (sorry for your loss ☹️) One day at a time is the way to go.Nice to see you notmy1sttime 👋 So sorry RL got in the way & 🤞that everything has been sorted out. Always amazes me that moving furniture around often leads to rooms looking bigger 👏 in conjunction with decluttering 🙂MrsSD 🏅🏅🏅🏅 ⭐️⭐️⭐️Decluttering Target: 2021 723/20212021 Savings Pot: £41.00 to end of MarchBe Kind. I am claiming another bag. I have shot myself in the foot with the boundaries I have set myself, not including household/daily stuff in my tally. However, I will include this one......
Gathered all the (mostly plastic) bottles that had half an inch to one inch of shampoos, bath bubbly things, hand washes, conditioners etc. Why do we not finish the bottle before starting another one ?
Every bottle had a little water added and all the soapy things went into my clothes washing soap (it's all soap to me) and all the conditioners went into my fabric softener. Then ALL the bottles went into recycling.
I then tackled all the plastic bottles that had been saved for future useand made up some spray bottles of surface cleaners with disinfectant etc..... the very reason they were saved for.
As I was tackling plastic I had a quick root around in the garden and low and behold....more plastic. In the bin !
So, I think that constitutes one bag as it was a very deliberate job.

My sympathies Mrs SD re the ants - mine first appeared about 3 weeks ago in small bathroom sink. Guess they are coming up overflow pipe. The soil here is very sandy and we are about 10 miles from two large river estuaries - silt and sandy ant paradise. I have large patio back and front and I think a cross section through them would reveal an ant city of some size. I put an ant bait down but it is a constant battle most years. Snowing here this morning so my beautiful tulip and daffodil bulbs are looking confused.
A whole day of nothing today so I need to think of some decluttering and cleaning to do.2025 Decluttering Campaign 648/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟🌟

Had a lovely day off from the jobs list yesterday - OH kindly cooked lovely lunch and we had a cuppa in his garden afterwards. OH phoned to delay me going over to eat so I filled the time by deleting some old emails. So, 386 added to the total.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅9

This is a copy of what I posted on the OS Daily:Yesterday I spent most of the day emptying out more packets and bottles of old stuff from another shelf of the pantry of doom. This time is was much more pleasant, dried fruits (now very very dried), sachets of baking powder and gelatine, bottles and bottles of different essences and colourings, all very fragrant. The worst ones were two bottles of ancient caramel sauce from Lakeland, there was a very hard layer at the bottom of each which I had to attack with boiling water and a chopstick.
The bottle of Camp coffee was tricky too. An intriguing item was a a large cone of sugar, I have no idea why it was in that shape. Anyway, there's three more bags of food waste to go out today plus more bottles. A job well done, so far. There's two more shelves plus the floor to clear.
It's satisfying to have done all this so far. Now I have to gear myself up for another shelf. No oils on that shelf, just packets of stuff. I've been taking photos each step of the way which I will (maybe) show DM one day. She hasn't been in the kitchen for nearly a year.Mrs SD - no food from the 70s, I did a clearout of old tins about six years ago. What DM has is furniture bought in the 50s, complete with receipts.9 -
Helped myself to some cardboard boxes destined for recyling at work. I plan on clearing the loft of books and selling them, hence the need for boxes.
Hoed yesterdays grass cuttings around the garden.
Put loads of lidless jam jars into todays recyling collection. Really don't understand why I had so many without lids. Still got plenty for this years jam making though.9
