Ebay seller flogs £2 coin for £138 because of design error - check your change guys!
A rare £2 coin has sold for £138 on eBay because it has a huge design flaw - making it valuable to collectors. The coin has been accidentally struck on both sides so the writing looks like it has been doubled up. On one side, the words have been minted twice and the Queen’s head is not in the centre of the coin. The other side of the coin, which features the “Standing on the Shoulders of Giants” design, also has the same minting error.
The eBay seller claims the piece was minted in 2003 and says they are “looking to reduce my error coin collection”. It sold for a total of £138 on May 26 after attracting 23 bids.
