An excellent point, the PPC's bleat on about their wonderful technology, Parking Eye brag about their multi point checks, and the whole sorry bunch of them claim rarely to make a mistake, but it would be the simplest of things to write into the programme a database check of VRN's on site and reject an unknown registration at key in.

As a computer programmer myself, I always replace "programme" with "program" in that context when I see it :D
Thank you I shall try to avoid that word where possible, but as the PPC's make up more fiction than the writers of Eastenders I though Programme was more suitable :D

Eastenders fiction consists of "okay, so which characters can we get to love each other, sleep together, hate each other or beat each other up this week then?" :)

Good evening, hope you're all well. Oops I didn't realise IAS don't give 28 days of appeal. I need to submit this appeal by today (Deadline 20.12.20 23:59). I couldn't find a template for IAS which is understandable with not many folks appealing due to them being a kangaroo court. However, I've attempted to type the following for my IAS appeal. Does it sound ok - anything to add or remove?

    Dear Sir/Madam,

On XXX (date), I was the registered keeper of XXX (reg). I decline your invitation to name the driver, which is not required of me as the keeper of the vehicle.

I am disputing this notice because a valid ticket was purchased by the driver and presented to SiP Ltd in the first appeal. It was also explained that an incorrect registration was keyed in error. The payee even paid extra due to not having any spare change. Sadly, they have chosen to ignore the evidence provided.

The incorrect registration (XXX reg) keyed in was of a former vehicle sold during the pandemic (with the first letter of the registration being the same). The vehicle that was parked in the SiP car park was only recently purchased few months ago and hardly driven due to the lockdown. Please see attached evidence.

Under the British Parking Association’s (BPA) revised code of practice, operators must show leniency when it comes to registration plate keying-in errors. Why has this IPC member not followed suit and be more sympathetic over trivial typing errors? Furthermore, why was the payee able to buy and pay for parking for a car that was not in their ANPR car park? If they have ANPR technology then surely the same system could have done a database check on-site or provide an error alert notification or reject an unknown registration at key-in? This would have prevented this situation.

I request you to please cancel this charge.

    Thank you.

    Yours faithfully,

You're getting pretty close to giving away the driver's identity there.

Can I suggest that the first sentence of the the third paragraph be written as:
The incorrect registration (XXX reg) keyed in was of a former vehicle sold during the pandemic (with the first letter of the registration being the same).

A very small but subtle difference - worth making I think.

That is not an IAS appeal.  To do that, you'd need to attach evidence that you used to own the other car.  You will almost certainly lose anyway but IAS appeals are all about evidence and expect more of consumers than they do their members.

That appeal is far too short and lacking in details and why is this written as if you are writing to the parking firm?
I decline your invitation to name the driver,
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thank you for the speedy response and the feedback, Still awaiting letters from DVLA so in the meantime, I have attached evidence re the former vehicle (V11 and green slip - still awaiting DVLA confirmation - they've got a huge backlog).

I've found some POPLA appeals on Newbies post so I shall try to adapt that to an IAS one. Thanks.

Notwithstanding the facts that IAS is a kangaroo court, you are likely to see the appeal rejected and you might have given away the driver, how is any parking company supposed to believe that AN Other was driving your vehicle but still managed to input the VRM of a car previously owned by the RK (defendant) rather than turn around and look at the registration plate as the ticket was being purchased?
  • Hi, I have amended the previous post re the driver. I have not yet submitted the appeal - hoping to submit by evening.
