Yes, if on a 15kg allowance for hold luggage package holiday, it is a fundemental consideration.
Of course, maybe TUI will follow Jet2's lead and offer 23kg as standard - but I'm not holding my breath !!!

Plus even if my bag is within the airline limits, I still want it to be comfortable to carry it - and my back isn't what it used to be.

would never bring back more than 2 litres as otherwise they became too heavy.
Do people really have that much issue with baggage weights? Ok we tend to do more long haul flights which budget airlines don’t offer so are typically working with a baggage allowance of a single 23kg bag each.

I cannot remember the last time the Mrs bag was over 18kg and mine, even with a few bits from the Mrs’ put in mine for space, tends to be around 12kg. A bottle of spirits is about 1.5kg so could fit 7 bottles in mine and still be fine on weight.

Guess all the rest of you guys are packing lead diving boots or something.
I have never got remotely close to exceeding baggage allowance. 10-11kg would probably be my standard weight. I don't quite know what people take away with them when they have 20+kg.

Depends on if you have access to laundry services. For anywhere in SE Asia you can find a service wash on every street corner for a pound or two so you only really need enough clothes for a few days. I always laugh at those backpackers you see struggling with a pack which is bigger than they are. Travelling light is the way to go.

Its not what you take away, its what you take back. 😁

How heavy are your underpants? 😄

My trips are generally around three weeks and I do a lot of travelling once I’m there and can visit 8 or 9 places in that time. By and large I’ll be in the developing world and there are laundries that’ll clean and iron a big load in a day. If it came to it hotels will do it, albeit at a premium.

I can take 9 days clothes and plenty of toiletries (which are sold abroad anyway) in 11kg and get laundry done a couple of times.

I’m still at a loss how you get 23kg of baggage... let alone if you fly a higher class of travel where you get 2 or 3 bags at 23kg each. I’ve been on 4 month holidays and still took about 2 weeks worth of clothes plus a couple of “special occasion” outfits. I dont thing we are taking a different number of pairs of pants just maybe other’s are made of lead or something other than cotton.

On a holiday to the Philippines two years ago I decided to fly business whereas my mate flew economy. On the way back we put both bags through on my ticket so that they appeared on the carousel quickly. Even with two bags I didn’t get to use half of my allowance.
