Insurance undervalued my car
Hi guys having abit of an issue here. Have been involved in about 3 accidents in a short period of time. All non fault.
Now on accident 2 they have undervalued my car and used the accident 3 scrap value to give my car a pre accident value which obviously i think is a mistake.
Accident 1-
Valued at £2800
Car repaired and taxi mot done.
Back on the road. Roadworthy
Accident 2-
Pre accident valuation £177.20
Accident 3-
Valued at £2300.
Salvage price £177.20
Got the car assessed by an engineer instructed by my own insurance company to then claim off third parties insurance.
On looking at the reports i have come to the conclusion that,
Because they assessed the 3rd accident damage before the 2nd accidents damage.
They used the 3rd accidents salvage value to give a pre accident value for the 2nd accident which was £177.20.
I said not happy with it and i will be using another independent engineer at my own cost.
The accidents 2 & 3 were 2 weeks apart.
So rather than going 123 the engineer went 132.
Repairing the damage from accident 2 is going to be £300+ and they only giving my car a £152 figure after retaining...

Ultimately you need to register a complaint with your insurers as they should consider the incidents in the order that they occured.
Accident 2 would be settled as a cash in lieu settlement of say £230 if you say the gross cost of repair was £300
Accident 3 is presumably a total loss for which the car would be valued considering the pre-existing damage from accident 2 as you’ve received a cash settlement for this.
What would be good to understand is the £500 depreciation between accident 1 and 3 and if this is reflecting the damage in accident 2 or something else.1 -

Accident 1 Cat S
Accident 2 still ongoing
Accident 3 Cat S0 -
If the car was Cat S after the first collision, then the value going into collision two would be far lower.
It wouldn't then take much cosmetic damage to write it off (cat N) from collision two.
If the car was still damaged from collision two going into collision three, then the value is rock bottom. And, yes, scrap value seems appropriate for a car that was only <£3k before being written off twice, probably three times.
It seems very... unfortunate... to be in three collisions in such a short space of time.
"Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. The third time it's enemy action."0 -
Is the OP expecting that the "write-off" valuation less salvage will be paid out three times on the same car? That seems optimistic.1

For clarity, accident 1 was paid out £2.8k less salvage and you then repaired.
Accident 3 was paid out £2.3k less salvage and you then plan to repair.
Accident 2, you have been offered £177 as write off.0
