No, it really isn't. Before this year the average time between forming the chain and completion was 3 months, you're looking at longer than that now. Expect to be in by the end of Feb, early March if it ends up being a straightforward transaction with no issues.kathonetwo34 said:The offer was accepted end of October! This is dragging out!3 -
The house is vacant and has been for 18 months. The vendors inherented the house for a relative. It is need of a revamp. No chain my side either currently rentingThrugelmir said:Your solicitor will be in contact once there's tangible developments to discuss. What's the position of the vendor? I ment end of August sorry. When the offer was accepted I was told that due to no chains on either side I could expect to get in for Christmas, my solicitor didn't wait for the mortgage offer before begining the relivent searches, because at the time mortgage offers were taking months to come back, and I didny want to hang about. If they didn't keep giving dates I think I could cope buy they are! This is all new to me so have to rely on them for the correct information which seems to be lacking!Slithery said:

If the offer was only accepted end of October then you are not that far along the process, it is most definitely not dragging out. . Usually 12 weeks is pretty standard time. Easier said than done but you need to relax a bit, you will be told something when you need to be, you need to let the solicitor do their job. Has survey / valuation been carried out? Have you had the results yet?kathonetwo34 said:This is what I'm so confused about I assumed that there were steps to take in the process. I recieved the sale contents, which consisted of one piece of paper to simple say what I'm buying then nothing! I have called the solicitor so many times asking if I need to do anything. Only to be be told they were waiting from paper work from there vendors solicitors. Finally when I called the last time they said the vendors solicitors have sent the relivent paper work. They then said looking to complete 16th. Im so confused I assumed that an exchange would be given where deposits would be sent and a completion date set! It seems so wrong the way it's happening. The offer was accepted end of October! This is dragging out! And I honestly don't know what to do. These people don't seem to be giving me any answers just random dates which they don't seem to make sense 😭

Go pay your solicitor a visit. It was only after we doorstepped them (they had a notice on the door saying covid this and that bla bla but still went in) that they stepped up after being ignored for 3 working days after an email chasing what is going on and phone calls (after mortgage approved and searches back). During our unexpected visit he gave us ‘the page’ to sign to exchange contracts and now replying to emails within a few hours. Exchanging this week - within 2 weeks of getting searches back. Had a call from our EA today saying they’d been told by our solicitor we are exchanging this week to complete early Jan.

They have said the relevant searches have been completed they were waiting on a final bit of paper work for the vendors solicitors they said but should be able to complete th 11th this was 2the 3rd. I Called the estate agent, they said they would get on it. called the solicitor today, to say that they have received said paperwork but due to some issues surroung covid and some one isolating could do this week so it will be 16th. I'm so confused. Not signed anything at all. In fact during this whole process with the exception of the estate agent I have not seen a single person in bliming person! From what I understand the house was a family home parents died leaving it to a brother and two sisters. The sisters were married and had homes of there own, but the brother who was a bachelor chose to stay in the property, he then past away 18 months ago. The sisters with no need for the house slowly emptied it, they are not youngsters, 18 months later they put the house on the market. No one has mentioned anything about it being in probate. Had to wait a week to find out if offer was accepted because the sisters had to draw up legal papers to out line who had what moneyThrugelmir said:
