Happy belated birthday @carrielovesfanta! 🎂 I've been awol due to being very busy with work- very much looking forward to the festive break! 😉
I've been pretty good with some of the small stuff though - mainly with food - and am using up my stores! 😊 I had a tin of vegan meatballs for lunch and there's a lot of sauce in them which is basically like tinned tomatoes so I used the sauce to make a jackfruit chilli along with a bottle of chipotle chilli sauce which has been lurking in my cupboard for about a year! 🙈😂 I had a bit of excess gravy from a dinner this week so used that for breakfast gravy dips (basically a couple of slices of bread covered in gravy, mint sauce and tomato sauce); the foil that I'd used to cover the excess gravy I reused to cover some tomatoes while I was roasting them in basil jelly in the oven and cooked some jacket potatoes while the oven was on. I also made baked tofu with a chilli and cherry chutney that has been lurking for a long time.
I've also been mixing up some laundry liquid this week- we've got a lot of liquid that I really don't like (it works okay but smells wierd 😷) so I've been saving empty bottles and have done a 40/60 mix with stuff I do like - previously I would probably just have given up and got rid of it! I've got to do the same with the fabric conditioner now so need to save more bottles!! 😂
I must admit that the majority of the 'small stuff' that I do is around food/re-purposing leftovers - I think that I find it easier than stuff like reducing heating (which in all honesty is something I'm not prepared to do) and hanging out washing etc but I guess anything is better than nothing!4 -
Morning folks
@smushesma - breakfast gravy dips?! that sounds like a concept that my OH would get behind. He's a scouser so any foodstuff can be legitimately put between two slices of bread. I've seen him eat shepherd's pie sandwiches!
@determined_new_ms - enjoy those 10 days off!
I'm a bit late getting going this morning - I had a nightmare and had to keep myself awake for a bit to stop myself falling back into it so I didn't wake up til 8am. I'm not feeling in a study mood but I've opened the laptop and got my book out. Even if I do an hour, it's a good start. After that it'll be making/writing the Christmas cards. We were supposed to do them at the weekend one afternoon but OH took a 2 hour long bath instead, and there wasn't much chance of me sitting down to them at 8pm.
We were booked into the gym then at 5.30 (hisses). Can't stand working out late as it screws up all your meal times. Need to prep something for when we get it to avoid Tesco/takeaway trap. Poss teriyaki pork.
I think once the Christmas cards are done, I'll feel a bit more settled. Then I just need to finish the cross stitch pictures for the neighbours, which we are plodding through.
Have a good one all

Morning,
I'm enjoying reading everyone’s posts, especially the food ones! Today I have leftover mash and the remains of yesterday’s sausage casserole minus the sausages for lunch.Didn’t get to sleep till 3am for some reason, so I’m feeling slow today. Luckily dinner is sorted - chilli con carne from the freezer. Target for today is finish ONE parcel 🙄

I will aim for washing to be dried on the line- virtually dried yesterday which I wasn't expecting.
Leftovers used up yesterday as a ham bake. Various veg cooked then mixed with some jam and cooked in the oven covered with a white sauce. The white sauce made with water I had cooked the veg in.
Limited heating on.
Today I will keep the heating off til this evening.
I have a time slot at the community fridge so will cook from whatever I get there. Always loads of lovely veg and the rest is variable as to what you can get.
