Each of ours were supplied & installed for about £1,500 each.
If you are over 60 and they are supplied & installed by the same company VAT is 5% instead of 20%.
Be wary of the ones sold on ebay being the cheap noisy type with low COP's compared with good quality makes installed by a reputable supplier.
Also, if you do a DIY install you need to get an f-gas registered engineer to complete the Building Regs requirements.
I would estimate a single outside unit supplying 2 internal units would probably cost about £2k - £2.5k (including installation & 5% VAT) depending on the routing of the piping, etc.

They are saying 5% VAT discontinued in 2019... although still on Gov website as applicable....  More chatting they are insistent that 5% VAT does not apply, this is who quoted me

Well, our last one was installed at the end of last year (2020) and the 5% VAT did apply as I am over 60 and we used the same company for supply & install. It was a company that also trains engineers for f-gas registration; so they should know the rules!
Another company we had a quote from said if we bought the unit ourselves and got them to install, then VAT @ 20% would apply to both the purchase & installation.

Are there pluses and minuses to using a split system rather than two single units?
    I think....
