SUNSHINE WANT TO CANCEL MY HOLIDAY AND WANT £8000 MORE

Last year I booked a Holiday to Majorca for June but the holiday company contacted me to say I can either cancel or swap to next year after discussing I swapped to next year, I also asked for an all inclusive price as it was for half board the advisor said that fine and will go check with the hotel and coke back with a price. So a few days later in may this year I got a price for all inclusive great i thought we will take that £1 deposit paid, booking confirmation sent.
Then yesterday I had a phone call from sunshine to explain that my holiday will be cancelled as there has been a pricing error and I can either pay £8000 more or cancel, I was totally gutted. They then said I could have another hotel but it was a few stars bellow and nothing like the hotel we booked. The hotel was a iberostar alcudia park. I am so upset that how can I get a price confirm and now tell me I can’t have the hotel 6 months later and have to pay £8000 more if I want it. There is 14 of us in the group. It’s not about the £1 deposit I am upset they want more money.

Well you win the prize for most misleading title of the year! They haven’t cancelled AND asked for £8000 for the privilege have they...
What was the difference in price between your half board holiday and the all inclusive upgrade you asked for? Was it an obvious error? £8k is a huge price for a holiday to Majorca generally (unless there’s a whole gang of you i guess) so for it to be £8k on top of the already agreed price seems crazy...
It will boil down to whether or not the pricing error was obvious (IE £1000 for half board and £1050 for full board) and how far you want to pursue it if it wasn’t an obvious error...9 -

What do your T&Cs say about pricing errors?
Their current terms state:6. Accuracy
We endeavour to ensure that all the information and prices both on our website and in any advertising material that we publish are accurate, however, occasionally changes and errors occur and we reserve the right to correct prices and other details in such circumstances. You must check the current price and all other details relating to the Travel Arrangements that you wish to book before you make your booking. Where the Travel Service or price has been listed incorrectly and the booking has already been confirmed, we reserve the right to cancel the booking and refund all monies paid to you.
7. Prices
We reserve the right to amend advertised prices at any time. We also reserve the right to correct errors in both advertised and confirmed prices.
So they have found an error in the pricing, it appears a significant one and so have enacted the above term and been reasonable to give you the option of paying the corrected price, booking something elsewhere or a refund of your £12 -
If you have really only paid £1 then there isnt much to get upset about, get your £1 back and rebook somewhere else1

So the total loss to OP at the moment is a pound? Crikey. With all the stories of people having lost holidays and/or hundreds or even thousands of pounds, it's been a lucky escape.
Just book another holiday.

A reasonable sanity check but not always accurate; our Maldives trip was almost half the price to book via an operator and they threw in extras like free seaplane transfer etc -v- booking directlyCaz3121 said:
