A standard mitre saw the blade can turn left and right, but remains vertical. A single bevel compound mitre saw the blade can also tilt over, so it can do cuts a standard mitre saw cannot, but the blade only tilts one way so you might need to turn or flip the workpiece. A double bevel the blade can tilt over either way, which helps you make multiple different bevel cuts without having to lift the workpiece around. Some, of all types, also have a sliding feature, the saw can move forward and back. This lets you cut wider boards, a non-sliding saw can only cut fairly narrow things.2

"Compound miter saws feature blades that pivot left and right for angled cuts and tilt in a single direction for beveled cuts. Manipulating the saw on both of its axes at once yields a compound miter cut."

So the "Evolution R255SMS 255mm Electric Single-Bevel Sliding Mitre Saw". IS or IS NOT a compound saw? I think I just might have to phone Screwfix and let them spend an hour describing exactly what each will do before I can choose.{Signature removed by Forum Team - if you are not sure why we have removed your signature please contact the Forum Team}0
