Personally, I'm dead against the laws requiring us all to drive on the left. I think driving on the right is far more modern, and I'm thinking of hiring a ten ton truck and practising driving on the right. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?1 -

But, is it a very minor offence? If you’re doing well out of the pandemic, and many people are, you may not care when it ends. But, lots of people are suffering economically, even if they have not lost any friends or family. Surely, we should all pull together to try to contain the virus? The attitude that these public health rules don’t really matter seems rather childish to me.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?4

surreysaver said:We're not in a lockdown. Its a term applied to the current rules by the media. The lockdown was last spring. My bad for using the same term that is being screamed from every newspaper and said by pretty much every reporter/presenter.'Restrictions' just sounds better from a political perspective.1

Yes it is a very minor offence hence the very paltry penalties that are applied even the the rare case of a prosecution. They are in the same league as speeding rather than drunk driving.I’m not sure why you think breaking the law is such a big deal? Most people break minor laws all the time, especially drivers. That’s life. If you want complete obedience I guess you have to go to a communist country and even then...0

Considering the economic calamity for the country and the number of people who have died, the fines are indeed paltry.

Rita Ora won't even notice that £10k she voluntarily paid today, but I do think it sends the message that if you can afford it you can break the rules
Make £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023
Make £2024 in 2024...2 -

I actually looked it up and the basic FPN for breaches of regulations is £100, which is the same as the basic speeding fine.0
