I went to a outside farmers market, wandering around in the fog. bought a cauliflower and a cake. have to que up for everything now. but it got me out for a few hours.twopenny said:Absoloutly nothing apart from a walk in the freezing cold and fog.Been tearing into projects daily to try and stave off lockdown and the depressing short dark days with some purpose and to pass the time - and realised that I'd got stressed and not just relaxed. Sometimes you just have to give in.6 days till I can play tennis again, it will be good to hit something and laugh, 23 days to the shortest then the sun gets higher in the sky,0 -
i am long retired but since DD bought a flat two weeks ago I have been soooo busy. Today I fitted two new light fittings, removed some old wall plugs and made good, worked out how to fit a washing machine and dryer in a cupboard 58cms wide.
The last one was hardest!0 -
I work all week so weekends are spent running errands first thing on Saturdays, then doing the never ending job of housework - unless it's the warmer months and then i'm out in the garden pottering and housework takes a backseat !!!

Just the usual country stuff; tending to hens, checking sheep, watering stuff and picking salad in the polytunnel. Chatted with some people in the yard, so probably broke a Covid rule or two, but I don't bother to keep up with them now. Chopped a few logs.Slunk off in the late afternoon gloom (around 14.30!) to pole saw some holly that's way over a boundary the neighbouring farmer thinks he owns. He doesn't. Had to stand in the stream to do that, but managed to do the job without being spotted. Finally, in the gathering darkness, relocated a dead rat I found in the morning....I won't elaborate with that one!

I've spent the last two days de-installing an Aga and removing the concrete plinth it sat on. I'll miss the warm kitchen but not £25 a week to run it and the regular repair bills.1

Apparently, it would look as if it had always been there, so the Building Inspector wouldn't take an interest in it.Ours had been converted to oil. If we employed the right little man, it would run from December to mid April with just a new wick and thorough clean. Never bought any parts.

Our Japanese maple is now in its new home. Had to move the crocosmia to make space for it as the original place we planned to put it the border was too shallow. Just got to hope it re roots properly.

Over the stream to the neighbour's by any chance?Good Lord, no, not the neighbour with the holly; he's a bit paranoid but he doesn't deserve a rat!Besides, I can't throw a rat that far. He lives 150m away. Even an Olympic rat hammer thrower would struggle to achieve 80m.2 -
Ours was a night storage electric one. They are not worth anything; in fact I was quoted £350 for someone to take it away. The previous owners had spent £1400 on it in repairs in the last 5 years as well as the £25 a week in electricity. Not very MSE and not even good at cooking IMO.Davesnave said:shinytop said:I've spent the last two days de-installing an Aga and removing the concrete plinth it sat on.
