Doesn't that letter say that they are not acting as bailiffs?
It says 'Direct Collection Bailiffs Limited (DCBL) have been instructed to collect the outstanding balance on behalf of our client.....To ensure no further action is taken, you should make immediate payment..' It goes on to mention a supreme court case, then,,,'failure to make payment within 14 days will result in us recommending to our client they commence legal action' So I get you, not acting as a bailiff but they use the word and the reference to can't pay take it away to try to scare you into payment.
They are bog standard debt collectors and the fourth post of the NEWBIES thread explains exactly how to deal with them. But to summarise that post - ignore them.
Will do, I'm a bit stuck at mo then, cannot follow step 1 as CP plus say I am outside of 28days to appeal even though this is first letter, tempted to send them a SAR request now which would hopefully prompt them to close the matter. Or else I just wait to see if a court letter arrived, they've only 12 months left to do so.
I can only imagine the amount of stress these companies are causing any number of individuals particularly in present times0 -
If this is the first letter, doesn't that suggest they've traced you and letters went to an old address, due to the car V5C not being updated when you moved? People keep updating their address on their driving licences and not updating the vital DVLA data about their cars.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

The car was registered to my mums address, she only moved out last year so they had 4 years to send letters to that address and I would have picked them up, the new home owners still pass on mail (not that this is often) as we still mow lawns for neighboursCoupon-mad said:If this is the first letter, doesn't that suggest they've traced you and letters went to an old address, due to the car V5C not being updated when you moved? No, they refuse to converse with me and refuse to provide info I have requested! Just tell me to contact their collection agentCoupon-mad said:Have you ever told them who was driving? CP Plus can't hold a keeper liable.
I recall speaking with them on the day in question over the phone as there was an issue at the car park and was assured that the vehicle would not receive a ticket
Just tell me to contact their collection agent0 -
DCBL always have the rubbish "can't pay" on their letters, just a pathetic way to scare peoplekatquinn82 said:Thanks for your responses, I will have a read of the suggested thread.
Yes @beamerguy I meant DCBL, they've even printed at the bottom as seen on TV's don't pay we'll take it away'! I am inclined to respond to the cheeky monkeys, not exactly lawful behaviour on their behalf
@Redx thanks for info re. sale of debts, I didn't realise parking companies couldn't do this. That is at least something positive
NOBODY CAN CALL ON YOU so ignore the rubbish
Does this letter give 14 or 30 days to respond0 -
They refuse to converse ........ that would really go down well with a judge if it went to court.katquinn82 said:

These people are desperate fools
So be it, best let DCBL screw it up for CP then, they already have with fakery0 -
Ignore them then and come back if you get a real LBC from DCBLegal (not DCBL Recovery).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
