CP Parking - Received ticket from 5 years ago!!!

Hi

Wondering if anyone can help. DBB debt company have written a threatening letter advising I owe £160 from December 2015 for 'the vehicle was parked in contravention of the terms and conditions'.
I can only recall once parking in the CP car park in town, there was some sort of issue as I remember having to call them and the lady reassured me I would not receive a fine. I heard no more, until this letter now! I emailed CP they responded '
However, we are unable to consider your appeal as the time limit in which you had to submit it has expired and as such, this matter has been referred our Collection Agent.' (I hadn't stated I was appealing - simply asked why they had passed something on to a debt company when I had no knowledge of the pcn and asked for details of the supposed contravention.
Surely CP have the power to tell DBB to suspend action, I fail to see how it is lawful to pass this on to a debt company when I am certain there was no ticket. What I suspect is they have sold this on as part of a bundle of 'bad debts'.
Really don't know what I can do :(

They are not allowed to sell the alleged debt on , it is forbidden by the DVLA

The debt collector is a sub contractor , the alleged debt remains with CPP and always will

Stop making assumptions , deal in facts only

You don't appear to have read any threads, or the NEWBIES THREAD yet.
Everyone gets letters (who is DBB, they don't exist?).

CP = another parking company desperate for money in these covid times.
So desperate they are chasing 5 year old tickets.   I'm sure you mean DRP and not DBB . Maybe you mean DCBL

Sad little scam debt collectors are probably in the same boat .... desperate  scammers
Of course you don't owe £160,  IT'S ALL FAKE NEWS and lies
These idiots don't even own the debt and never will so you ignore them, and they do give up after a while .... NO CONTACT WITH THEM WHATSOVER

CP are looking for mugs so if you hear from them , come back here

  • Thanks for your responses, I will have a read of the suggested thread.

Yes @beamerguy I meant DCBL, they've even printed at the bottom as seen on TV's don't pay we'll take it away'! I am inclined to respond to the cheeky monkeys, not exactly lawful behaviour on their behalf
@Redx thanks for info re. sale of debts, I didn't realise parking companies couldn't do this. That is at least something positive
  • I'm stressed about it as worried someone is going to come to the door, other half saying just pay it to get rid of them then you won't be stressed, I've said but they're crooks he says it doesn't matter just pay it :astonished:

No-one is going to come to your door.

Doesn't that letter say that they are not acting as bailiffs?

They are bog standard debt collectors and the fourth post of the NEWBIES thread explains exactly how to deal with them. But to summarise that post - ignore them.

You still don't appear to have read any threads.  This is normal and only idiots pay.

I am reading through them now @Coupon-mad - I am also in Worthing - car park in question the one behind TKMaxx (Montague Centre?) I agree, I just feel stressed with it and it's not really a supportive response from him!
I have already followed step 1, I contacted the council who I believe are the landowner and they just said they can chase the debt for 6 years so that didn't get me very far. I can't follow step 1b as I am out of the timescale to appeal as this is the first notification I have had about it, CP plus advise it is too late too appeal.
I will email CP Plus with SAR as so far they refuse to give me any information and just want the money! But continue to ignore DCBL

Have you ever told them who was driving?  CP Plus can't hold a keeper liable.
