Surely, apart from most of the cost of the new hob, they are entitled to the cost of fitting?

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Agent did not ask me to pay for cost of fittings.
Excellent. Don't complain, or they may realise they have forgotten this.

The agent had deducted the money and return the remaining deposit to me. I would like to disputes via TDS.
On what grounds? You haven't told us that you're denying having caused the damage.

On what grounds?  No harm in trying I suppose but you will have to think of a reason.
  • I wish the law would change to ensure the landlord used the money to actually buy what had been damaged. This must be something that happens soon .

I had been staying for 2 years 2 months and also the the chip is one of the four ring, can agent claim for the whole hob cost?
Yes, the rings are not sold separately.

It looks to be a fair deduction for damage that you have caused, why would you want to dispute it? You caused the damage, it’s fair that you pay for it.

I don't think there's any cost for raising a TDS dispute, so go ahead.

There have been several posters here who have all said that they can't see that you have any grounds for a successful outcome, but there's little downside for you.

It's quite useful posting here, as you get a reality check from people who aren't involved. You are free to reject our advice, and I can well understand that it's not the advice that you wanted to hear.

I don't call it as damaged. It is wear and tear issue
No, sorry, it's not wear and tear. You've only damaged one of the rings, which kind of proves that point.

You should read the TDS guidelines, to see whether there's any downside risk, and they could award a higher cost against you. You can hardly rely on other people to do that for you.

The reason is the hob is still working very well.
So why charge so much then? Doesn't make sense unless the landlord asked for less rent from new tenant - which should be proved.
