NST DECEMBER Don't Be a Martyr for Christmas

"Finding Yourself" is not really how it works. You aren't a ten pound note in the pocket of last winter's coat. You are also not lost. Your true self is right there, buried under layers of cultural conditioning, other people's opinions and inaccurate conclusions you drew as a child that became your beliefs about who you actually are."Finding Yourself" is actually "Returning to Yourself" . An unlearning, an excavation, a remembering who you were before th world got it's hands on you.
Gratitude
Gratitude is a wonderful way to draw more beauty into your life.
Gratitude is one of the sweet shortcuts to finding peace of mind and happiness inside. No matter what is going on outside, there is always something to be grateful for.
Life is a series of thousands of tiny miracles. Notice them.
Telling your luggage there will be no holiday this year is tough. Emotional baggage is the worst. (sorry, had a better one but couldn't re-find it)

Afternoon all. Just listening to Boris and am glad I got the last of my Xmas shopping done and went for a swim this morning as I'm about to go into tier 4. Knew something was coming and already cancelled my plans for Xmas a few days back. People were all over each other in the shops earlier, not respecting social distance or wearing masks so I'm really not surprised. Will have to have a stern word with OH about not going to his parents' on Christmas day (they say they've all had covid so are very relaxed....). Anyway, on a positive note, got all the shopping done, managed to wrap most things and really enjoyed my last swim for the foreseeable future. We'll get out of this mess eventually.7

NSD No 14
I've just been watching Boris as well and although it doesn't affect me at the moment I'm sure we'll have more restrictions when Nicola addresses us at 5.30. My nephew and his family came today to drop of gifts. We stood at the front door whilst they stood on the path. Both he and his wife work for the NHS and they are really conscientious about sticking to the rules. Her family have cancelled all their Christmas plans and are just staying in their own households. I really, really hope everyone else will be as sensible.
So, chilli in the slow cooker and Tesco delivery coming tomorrow.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.8 -
Saturday- I'm counting today as NSD 11/15. I sold something (white good) which doesn't fit in this house and has been in the shed since we moved while I "thought about it", a friend in the village needed one so a deal was done! Not a huge amount of cash, and far less than it will cost me to replace with a smaller one to fit the available space, however I acquired the item when a relative moved so it cost me nothing and has been well used over the last 5 years so it's a sum of cash for nothing really!
I also claimed a voucher for that big river company as a reward for buying an insurance policy, I then used some of the voucher to buy some curtains, but as I'm still in profit for the day I'm hoping it will count as a NSD!
Am rather concerned about Nicola's announcement- not the increased restrictions- im not going anywhere/mixing with people anyway other than work. My concern is back to on-line learning with an extended week of DD being at home. I'm a single parent with a full time job that CANNOT be done from home, so either DD stays home alone (eh no!), with my parents (elderly and no way they can cope with online learning) or I manage to get time off work- sure my boss will be delighted to give me an unplanned week off when a colleague is already booked to be off and our work takes twice as long as normal because of the restrictions. Will speak to the boss on Monday and see what happens! May have to offer to take it unpaid which will not be great.
Gratitudes- DD and I are healthy, we have fun Christmas traditions which don't require other people or masses of money, more space in the shed!5 -
The school should take dd, as you can't work from home.

NSD 8/15, 1500ml water, no walk.
Weekly grocery shop came in under £40 today. It was originally £42 but one item was not available and there was no replacement. I actually just added that item to the order to take it over the £40 spend needed to qualify for free delivery, so quite happy for them to not have it.
Unexpected £14.22 cash-back bonus from credit card. I use it for the weekly grocery shop. It’s a habit I started years ago and don’t really know why. Probably to get the cash-back on a regular spend, like groceries. I’ll now put that £14.22 into our emergency savings. OH’s last wage will be next week then we’re on one wage from January. This month we’ve had a practice run by living on one wage which has worked out ok so far but we are living in different times where we’re not travelling to work or having days out like we did before Covid.
Grateful for our health, Christmas films, and Christmas songs.

Our schools are open for the kids of key workers, but only if both parents are key workers, or in the case of single parents, if the parent with caring responsibilities is a key worker, so drop the school an email / leave a phone message requesting a place for her. There should be a phone number for the parents of kids who test positive for C0vid over the holidays to contact the school, so someone will pick up your message.Don't fret, just enjoy your Christmas traditions with your daughter.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Apple-muncher, f0xh0les- in lockdown 1, our area would only accept children of category A key workers, and my job is listed as category D so I was told there was no chance of a space. Only 1 primary school in the area was open, so minimal spaces. Nothing I can do until Monday, so no point worrying until then.

Very wise @facethemusic, nothing can be done til Monday, enjoy the weekend.

Shower has been cleaned (rest of the bathroom was already done but there were some stubborn bits that I sprayed/ soaked and left). Washing has been done. Two heavy merino wool covers have been out on the line. Mattress cover has been sponged (I brought a 2 l bottle of decaff coke in last week, thought it was cold because of that but it was actually dribbling down my back and onto the mattress cover). Not going to put it back on the bed, it took forever to do and didn't even stay in place for one evening and has been making it's way further down the bed and onto the floor ever since, taking the sheets with it. Bed remade with lots of clean sheets (one over the pillow pile as it rained shortly after I brought the heavy covers in and put the washing out - brought my dresses in but pillowcases and one light cover are still on the line), one heavy and one light cover.
Books are all in order, ranged along the window bottom and on the bookshelves. Have adjusted one shelf to take a double row and will repeat when I have time and space to take another load of books off - more urgent jobs to do first. Not been anywhere other than the yard and not spent any money. Craft stuff tucked away in the footstool and another surface cleared, cleaned and decorated with candles and a tree ornament. Ate the other half of the cauli cheese for my meal and taken several bulky things out of the freezer to make more space. Made sweet potato mash on Thursday and decanted it into cake moulds (6 round and 6 heart shaped with unicorn faces). Who says I don't know how to make fancy food?
Grateful for getting things done, my lovely bed and piles of clean bedding, books and computer games, and strictly.
