  • Hi All

@Fortune_Smiles and @savingholmes, thank you both for your kind comments, we are really pleased with how it's turned out and the best thing is it was free, the ones I've seen to buy have been several hundreds of pounds!  It's really opened up the hallway and made it feel lighter and brighter.

Dinner was cooked in the air fryer again last night, chicken Kyiv and dauphinoise potatoes with mixed veg, I haven't used my oven since it arrived!

I'm a bit worried I'm getting Meniere's Disease, my Grandmother had it and for a while now I have been experiencing tinnitus and the last few days vertigo has kicked in, today I am also struggling with bright light, I'll see if it passes in a day or two but if not I guess I'll have to make an appointment with my GP.

    Have a lovely Tuesday

  • Hi All

Back at work today, I went home at midday on Tuesday and have just slept for the last day and a half whilst giving my meds time to work.  My vision still isn't great but I really want to see DD tomorrow and my conscience wouldn't have let me do that if I hadn't come to work today, I'm travelling with a friend tomorrow and if I don't feel too great when I get there I can just spend time with DD in her flat.  I'm taking her some of the steak and chips from Co-op and puttanesca sauce and tuna, that should do her 4 good meals in total.

@Moneyfordreams, thank you for your kind comments, I still keep admiring our handiwork every time I walk past.  This weekend we are due to help a friend build some pallet, garden seating, she has been admiring ours and DH had been gathering some nice strong pallets for her, just hope the weather is kind to us.

We are shopping tonight and I'm going to drop some flowers off to my parents as they lost their little dog overnight :disappointed:  then home for £4 steak and chips in the air fryer with mushrooms that need using up and onion rings.  Tomorrow night DH will have to fend for himself, probably get fish n chips.

I need to get on top of the Christmas stuff, sort out my stash and sell some bits on Facebook/Ebay.

    Have a great day.

  • Hi All

@savingholmes, I had a lovely time with DD, spoiled her a little too much!  We had lunch in a really nice little Italian and later in the day went to a very posh cocktail bar with it's own brand of gin, neither of which DD had been to with her Uni friends, not least because the cocktails were 3 times the price of those in student bars!  She was very pleased with her care package (steak etc).  My friend managed to get bus cheap upgrades to First Class on the train, which was lovely, no jostling for seats and meant free refreshments which saved on buying drinks from Cost-ly!

My vertigo is improving, still getting the odd dizzy spell, particularly when lying down and turning over or going from lying to sitting and I am constantly exhausted, don't know if that is linked to it.

I've been using my airfryer, even made some cherry and dark chocolate chip cupcakes after finding square and rectangular silicon cupcake cases on Amaz0n, I can make 6 square or 8 rectangular in each drawer.  On Saturday I did lamb and mint burgers in it, they were so moist and juicy, I served them in brioche buns with a dollop of cream cheese mixed with pesto on top and homemade garlic and herb potato wedges.  Sunday we had a big roast chicken dinner and yesterday bubble n squeak from the leftovers with bacon and eggs, I've frozen half of the bubble n squeak as there was so much.  Tonight I am going to make a curry with the leftover chicken and maybe some mushrooms, if I do an Indian style curry have garlic naan and onion bhajis in the freezer but DH prefers a Chinese curry.

We helped my friend with her pallet, corner seating, wasn't so easy as the ground slopes away but we got there in the end but the rest of the weekend was really lazy as I still wasn't feeling great.  In fact, yesterday, I got home from work at 4pm and went to bed and slept until DH got in at 6ish.

    Have a great day

  • Hi All

Another soggy day here, when is it going to end!  Ah well at least the reservoirs should be filling back up, our local one got down to about 25% capacity in the summer!

So I ended up making an indian style curry with the leftover roast chicken and some home grown peppers, used a tikka paste and stirred through some really think greek yogurt that was going out of date, it was really yummy, we had it with naan bread and brown rice the first night and DH had some with chips the second night and I had a jacket potato.  Tonight I am making my bacon and mushroom pasta as we have mushrooms and cream cheese that both need eating up and lardons in the freezer.

Vertigo is ongoing, I know I should probably talk to my GP but a bit worried that he will say it's the start of Meniere's and the impact that could have on work and driving, it is mainly when I am lying down at the moment so a bit more manageable.

Waiting on to a few credits into my accounts, £10 from N@twest rewards, £10 A!rtime Rewards, £150 T0pcashback, £66 from B G@s and a refund from Debenh@ms of £36 and pay day next Wednesday.

Not getting drawn into the Black Friday Hype, I've never really bought into it, we don't celebrate Thanksgiving so why have Black Friday?  Anyway I saw an advert for Debenha@ms last night, it was for an item I bought 2 weeks ago; then it was £40 full price and I got it on offer for £24; now it is on a Black Friday Deal being advertised at £55 full price and reduced to £38.50 for BF!  What a con!  Thankfully I think we have pretty much sorted Christmas presents and if needs be I have some nice wines from my Sunday T!mes deal I can give as gifts (12 red wines, 1 prosecco and 4 stemless wine glasses for £65).

    Have a great day all

  • Hi there MvTMM

it's coming down in sheets here too ☔  The worst should pass in about an hour apparently.

Might you have positional vertigo?  It's very common and I've had it myself a few times.  It's where the natural calcium crystals in your inner ear get loose and swish about through the little hairs that play a part in hearing and balance.  It can be worse at night.  The trick is to get the crystals out into a part of the ear where they don't cause a problem.  I had some exercises which did the trick - https://www.webmd.com/brain/home-remedies-vertigo

Could also be a case of labyrinthitis.  I've had that too, caused by a virus in my case, and it's very incapacitating.

There are lots of things other than Meniere's with these symptoms but I know it's easy to expect the worse.  I'm not medically qualified though so, if it continues, best consult a doctor.

You may have already thought of these things of course 😊 but I thought I'd mention them just in case.

    Fortune x

    Hi All

@Fortune_Smiles Thank you so much for the link, I'll have a go at those exercises and see if it helps, it's definitely worse at the moment when I am, or have been, lying down.  I don't sleep particularly well and I don't think tiredness helps the situation either.  I'm just concerned re Meniere's as my grandmother had it and I know it can be hereditary.

We had a lovely relaxed weekend.  Light switch on and Late Night shopping on Friday with the obligatory Mulled Wine and then home for bacon and mushroom pasta.  Saturday we had steak and stilton pie and chips all cooked in the air fryer before going to a local pub to meet friends and see a couple of bands and then yesterday my parents popped round and DH and I had a cheese and wine evening enjoying some of the lovely cheeses we bought at the Farmer Market on Friday night.

I managed to go through my Christmas stash, I'm fairly organised, will organise a few more bits this week and start wrapping, we bought all of the family cards at the weekend.  We have a Candlelight event in a local Village next weekend, always a lovely evening and feels very festive so I think we'll put the tree up then as well and try and get into the Christmas spirit.

I sorted through a couple of Kitchen cupboards yesterday, threw away some bits I know we won't use and prioritised some items that need using up.  We will be living out of the freezer this week, make some room for Christmas bits, not too much as we will be going away for a week on 31st Dec.  A friend ordered us some chicken breasts last week, £28 for 23 big breasts that don't shrink, I think it was 2.5 kilos, they are bagged up and frozen in twos for currys, wraps etc, we buy these regularly and he just orders them through his work when I'm getting low again.

Moneywise my credits have come through from T0pcashback and B G@s, still awaiting the others.  I read our meters last night, gas usage for the month has obviously increased as we have had the heating on, however, electricity has gone down, a mix I think of not using the hot tub and having bought the air fryer, I'm hoping this will balance out the increased gas costs.

    Have a great day everyone
