Thanks for the new Thread, @elsiepac. Please put me down for £140. That's for all general groceries for two adults and excludes special Christmas purchases. (We have a separate budget for Christmas, setting aside £20/month. The £240 for Christmas has to include the goose and the Christmas tree.)
Our month will run from 1st December to 31st December."Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'

Thanks for the new thread @elsiepac. I'm in again for £250. I've already got some stuff for Christmas but I also have a separate Christmas I can use if I need anything else. I'm sure it's just going to be DH and I for Christmas and New Year so not loads of extra to buy, although I do want to treat us to some things which we wouldn't have day to day.

Thank you @elsiepac can you put me down for £300 this month ( Dec payday is the 14th. That will be our Christmas shop) although I do save all year round for Christmas food and present's. Tomorrow we've got to get the dogs food, that is separate to our food bill. They are on raw meat now and its cheaper by about £20. Then I need to go through all the upboards fridge and freezers to make my menu for the month and list of what food we need. Going to hopefully do a click and collect.Mortgage free September 2021. I'm at £450 next month again. Might be bit harder to stick to with Christmas on the way but we will see I guess.DEC GC £463.67/£450

Blimey - do people know something I don't? I had one of those Christmas food adverts from M&S pop up so I had a browse - all the beef things for 6 people have sold out, as have some of the turkey things!
I think we will stick with the local butcher and other shops this year and spend locally. I like living near a small town and we are lucky with the local shops so the savings from the entertainment budget will be spent there, even if there is a small premium above the cheapest, because I would like them to be there next year. We are fortunate enough to be able to make that choice.
If we can't have family here we have agreed we will deliver a hot Christmas dinner to DS and his housemates so I still need all the usual excessive food purchases. I have my first proper click and collect for collection by DH this morning and it includes a number of things ready for Christmas which I will be putting against December. With my annual budget I am hoping that the residue will see us through the year.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Hello can I put a budget of £350 as a target for December, that is everything food and cleaning and Christmas extras. We might have a quieter than usual Christmas due to Covid so should be less than this if that is the case. I'm another who puts £20 a month away for Christmas. This covers food and a few presents - just my sister; our 2 grandchildren and our 2 daughters. We only spend about £20 on each so that means £140 for food for Christmas. I don't think we're going to need anywhere near that this year as we have decided there will be no visitors no matter what guidance comes out from the Government. We all feel it is better to be safe than sorry.

Hi all, Could you put me down for £300 please, as I've got some clubc*rd vouchers to spend at Mr T for our Christmas food, so the other spends should be relatively low. Need to make some space in the freezer for the snacks and a few other bits. Already got a turkey joint and cranberry sauce.Grocery Challenge 2024
