Contract terms ending with BT phone/broadband

  • Forgot to mention the current is in the landlords name, I'd want to sign up to the new isp in my name, will that cause any problems? (though the landlord is fine either way as we are good friends)

Can't get my phone camera to work but it looks like this (the one on the right)
but instead of "openreach" it just has a BT logo in the top left

(I think the article in that link confirms I'm ok for no engineer?)

    That's fine, that's an NTE5. You're good for self-install.
  • Is it is strange I thought FTTC meant the cabinet that I keep the router on? I have read up and have a better understanding now.

The new broadband is going to be in a different name than the previous for the switch, is that going to cause issues?

If you've been OK with 5-7mbps you probably won't need to jump all the way up to 60+mbps. Also, from experience not every address is going to realistically get those speeds and the 'minimum guaranteed speed' is very close to the middle tier so you end up paying extra for nothing basically. I'm just switching to NOW TV broadband (from BT) which was £22 per month for up 40mbps including line rental and anytime calls. There was £100 Quidco cashback and one thing to bear in mind is that the shorter the contract the more frequently you can switch without penalty and claim whatever cashback/sweeteners are on offer. Loyalty is definitely not rewarded.

  • In a small pickle here, went with Talktalk through topcashback as it was a slightly better deal than the 3 months free Talktalk had on their site. Problem is it's been nearly a week and no cashback has tracked (nothing i've bought over black friday has tracked, for that matter).

I don't want to miss this money saving opportunity as i won't be able to do it for another two years, what are my rights to cancel this talktalk and look into other options (possibly even talktalk again but not through topcashback)?

For TalkTalk use your cooling off period.
Cashback through TopCashBack and what not is never guaranteed.  You may be able to submit a missing claim but considering you say none of your Black Friday deals have tracked either, that seems to imply an issue at your end with your browser/addons/configuration.

Considering I haven't cleared cookies for heaven only knows how many months and the last few I've done all tracked for me when I use it...
Ad-block software does interfere with these sites though if you're not careful.

Yeah I don't clear cookies, it seems strange that my 50p ebay transaction a few weeks ago tracked perfectly fine but this big amount is nowhere to be seen, and it's a bespoke offer from Topcashback, couldn't see it anywhere else.
Was just wondering if others had problems recently with tracking and TCB
