Why do we get all the strange viewers

Viewers 1. Arrived and got out of the car. Must have been at least mid 70's. Both wearing bright orange rubber gloves and she was carrying an enormous matching orange shoulder bag. Took the gloves off on entering the house. On entering the kitchen she said straight away - "no dishwasher - sigh", fair enough. Then the lounge - "we hate woodburners" She then asked to use the toilet. (Not happy but as people are travelling a long way for the viewings I understand). We then went outside to walk the land. We have 2.3 acres. All the time she was walking round, she kept saying - "It is very important to urinate when you feel the need to go as otherwise you become dehydrated."
Viewers A lovely couple who have horses. Now I have stated to the estate agent not to send anyone with horses as although we are a registered smallholding, the layout of the land is not suitable for horses as we have a large fishing pond in the middle . She kept wanting our neighbours phone numbers (which we dont have) to ring them to see if they would sell or rent their land to her.
Viewers Supposedly downsizing from 50 acres. On walking the land he decided not to walk up the field as it was too far and they hadnt realised how much land. The agent must have given them our number as it was a Sunday viewing. Anyway, shortly after leaving they rang and apologised and said the main reason they wouldnt be proceeding was that they hated ........., a village which is 3 miles away. Now they wouldn't need to go to this village as there are other villages close by , but anyway what do I know. Needless to say we aren't expecting any offers from any of these viewers. lol. Onwards and upwards.

Well I suppose they at least didn't request to bury a dead dog in the grounds...Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)24 -
Classic adverse selection.
Suppose 90% of prospective buyers are sensible and looking to buy. They see 10 properties each on average before buying. 10% of prospective buyers are odd time-wasters. They see 200 properties on average before buying. Then 69% of viewers are time-wasters.

I think we were just lucky when we sold our previous house (we part exchanged it against a new build but the developers marketed it while we were still living there) We only had six sets of viewers over the first weekend then it went under offer. But all six young couples that came were relatively normal sets of first time buyers

We had an elderly couple arrive with slippers in hand - they were also carrying a clipboard. We did think it odd a couple who looked like they were well into their 80s would be viewing a 4-bed detached large family home! They spent all of 15 minutes rushing through all the rooms, ticking boxes as they went along. Then dashed out with a 'cheery bye, thank you for letting us look around' and headed hot foot down the driveway. When the EA called for feedback, they simply said it was a 'disappointment' and put the phone down. Guess we didn't score high enough on their checklist - lol.
There are odd folks out there - but hopefully you've had your quota of time-wasters and will get an offer soon.

I am beginning to worry that all the "normal" viewers have disappeared.
We have a lovely property with 2.3 acres of land, 3 miles from the coast. A fishing lake and lots of outbuildings and solar panels. We live in the country so use what is on the land to fuel the woodburner - seems sensible to me, but we shall keep "ploughing" on

Those are brilliant, you have to laugh

Deep waters - what a very odd thing to be fixated on haha.0 -
Maybe it goes with the territory when there's land. I've met some pretty odd vendors when viewing landed property, but also some sane and pleasant ones. It's just that the weird ones have been not so much on the spectrum as off the scale!I'm sure I'd love your property, as it has the one thing I cannot easily have, at least until I've worked out how to prevent water from slipping away sideways on a slope. Googled it, but no luck yet. Like the vaccine, it is theoretically possible, but only at very low temperatures and I like to fish in shorts and tee shirt.6

Sorry you had to put your house back on but thank you for the laughs. You seem to have had a strange collection all in one weekend!
Reading the others has me laugh too. The EA has been doing the viewings while I’m not there so I haven’t had the joy of seeing any viewers myself but some of the feedback I had included being disappointed that the loft and the cellar hadn’t been converted (in a 3 bed house).I think this thread could be a good antidote to the stress of selling!2
