Hi @eat_that_frog, 'shudder' is the right word.  Did you watch any of the 'back in time for dinner' programmes - they were a real eye opener in respect of the woman's role in the home before they went out for work.  Things have got easier but its a slow process.

  • Yeah I did watch it, I feel very grateful I was born when I was and that I wasn't my grandmother's generation!

Just sat listening to the wind and rain out there tonight - I'm very glad to be in a warm cosy home.  I've booked the day off tomorrow, so I'm going to make a start on all the things on my 'ToDo' list - well those that don't involve going out and getting wet.  I really want to make some time for the weekend to do some creative things.  I'm always waiting for to catch up on jobs before spending time on myself, so that will give me the incentive to get on with the 'jobs' tomorrow!

Thanks debtfree, it was really nice just to potter about.  I nipped out to DunElm and HomeSense to have a look at some fabric and throws etc.  Nothing really caught my eye.  Then I decided to do some sewing, but got no further than ironing the fabric (that I bought about 10 years ago!).  I found out my sewing supplies though, and I've got everything needed, so I'll enjoy doing that tomorrow.  I also managed to cross a couple of things off the ToDo List

The sewing projects sound fun. What are you hoping to make?

Starting off with some easy PJs saving.  But have just realised that the 'pattern' I have needs tracing as there are others on the reverse .  I debated tracing around some old ones but have decided I want to do these properly (for the first time ever), so I've ordered some tracing paper and will make them next week.  I've never really had time to concentrate on things like this before, so it will be lovely to take my time and really enjoy it.  I've found out the manual for my machine and will do the maintenance on it as its been shoved away for a few years - hopefully it will work!!

Decided to use up some butter that's in danger of going out of date.  100g left, so was able to add 2 eggs which need eating soon, sugar and some of the chocolate flour I bought when it was a freebie on one of the receipt apps.  Made six nice large muffins, but am saving them for later - although the mixture was very tasty   Was thinking about buying myself a journal, when I realised I'd bought a lovely book from paperchase last year and had already started doing some plans for the future in there.  Its ideal, and it was nice to see my goals and plans again and how they have developed.  I feel quite 'sorted' now, especially after my day off yesterday - still lots to do and lots on my lists etc. but I think having it written down will hold me accountable for it.

Edit - will not be eating six later - will need to freeze some
