I think you may have to make an executive decision @Misslayed (especially as any tidying up will mean extra work for you!) as there will always be differences of opinion.  I think that as we have the shiny new advent board it should be used as such.

Unfortunately that won't work in the same way as it did on the old platform, as we don't have the option to order alphabetically, which is what kept all the A: advents together at the front of the thread. They would be all over thread, depending on when they were posted/the closing date.

As this is an experiment, please could ALL advent competitions be posted ONLY on the Advent sub-board, not on the main board as well. We'll see how it works when everyone gets used to it, and review for next year.

While I can see why this decision has been made. I can't help feeling sad.
The overriding principle in MSE that was arrived at following much, (Sometimes ill-tempered ) discussion was that ALL competitions were posted on the Main board as this was where the majority of members came to comp. I suppose now there are less of the older members left now, more changes are afoot.
This decision turns that completely on its head.
Hopefully this same logic won't be applied to daily competitions, although I've noticed a few recently that haven't been added to the Daily thread, which means End Date compers only enter in the last few days, depending how up to date they are.

I've been involved in many of those heated discussions but I think the advents are different, I think it makes more sense having the advents being posted separately.  It's an occasion, It's the Superbowl of comping! ... It's only really for 1 month a year and for any newbies that maybe miss the advents then it's kinda down to them, there has to be a bit of a learning curve when you start doing ANYTHING and we're not talking rocket surgery here, a 2 minute dig around the forums will teach them everything they need to know if they just take that 2 minutes to have a look and get involved then they wouldn't miss anything.

Maybe we could put a sticky on the Main Board something obvious like the santa icons

Hardly any advents getting added unless i'm looking in the wrong place. usually loads by now. maybe corona has scuppered. going to go on a hunt x

As I've worked my way through the main board, I've noticed a few of the advent regulars running Christmas competitions instead, which may explain why the advent comps board isn't as busy as usual by this point.

I've noticed all the advent comp posts so far are saying the name of the business running the competition in the title, rather than the prize. So you need to go into them all individually. Is this just cause it;s day 1?

It has to be because nearly all advents have a different prize every day, which are added to the same thread.
