Nobody has volunteered to man (person)  an advent thread, it's a huge amount of work. With a dedicated board we can select 'new' from the drop down menu, will that work for you? (I don't normally use the Advent thread so I can't envisage the difference)

Does sorting by new show new threads first or anything with a new post? If the latter it won't work with everything get bumped every day

AFAIK - I haven't tested it - selecting 'new' gives newly posted, selecting 'hot' gives newly commented ie new post. I may be wrong! (Has been known)

Sort New puts the board in order of Thread Start date/time with the newest at the top.
Sort Hot puts it in order of Post date/time with the newest at the top (This is also MSE default)
Can't quite work out Sort Top but seems to be something to do with popularity, Possibly number of views within a certain period?
Of course Sort Closing Date puts them in Closing Date order, with the longest date at the top using the mandatory Closing Date field (NOT the End Date in the Title but it SHOULD be the same)

Is it agreed that ALL advents are posted direct into the advent board and not the main board?

This has been requested many times for the people that don't do advents as it keeps the main comp board easier to navigate for non-advent comps (whilst the Advent board will obviously make it easier to navigate advents     )

Now is the time that firms start to advertise their advents so, hopefully there will be lots posted soon.  Not everyone checks chat, and not everyone will see there is an advents board,  so just wondered how to manage the learning curve.

  I've posted an advent straight into advent board and not on main board and a different advent has just been posted on the main board, with a link in advent board.  I don't want to make a comment on any advent threads until I'm sure what we are actually doing as it's not going to work if advents are posted differently

The initial posts of this thread suggest that they should be posted direct to the Advent Board  and NOT to the main board.
Misslayed did ask for comments but the lack of replies suggests that no-one was interested.

So far, the original 6 comps posted on the main board are still there with only links posted on the Advent Board.
2/3 new threads have been posted direct to the Advent Board and not on the Main board.
At least one new one has been posted to the Main Board with only a link posted on the Advent Board
One (might be a) comp has been posted on the Advent Board as an assumption that there will be one because there was one last year.
With people doing whatever they think, it has all the signs of being a bit of a mess.

I think this is a great idea so people that do not want to do advents do not have to go through 15 pages each day for comps. Thank you.

I can't see a reason for advents to be posted on the main board, now we have a dedicated Advent board, am I missing something?

I posted directly to the advent board as i presumed that it would make much more sense to post in there exclusively rather than cluttering up the main board aswell.

Absolutely. There is no point in having a Board for them if they are also posted on the main board. The sooner the linking posts are removed from the Advent Board and the actual posts transferred from the main board, the better it will be. Certainly much less confusing.
The difficult part is getting everyone to actually do it.

As always to keep as many standard competitions in one place as possible - doesn't bother me and I haven't checked because search is rubbish but I think that when it has been voted on in the past the majority has been to keep it that way.

There certainly has not been overwhelming demand for a change that is also of limited time use   -  presumably this means trying to restore the lost functionality of the old forum has been dropped or made a low priority as this has been put ahead of it.
