How much is your rate per kWh on electricity?

Hi all,
Im on Eco7 tariff when we moved in our house due to night storage heaters and our day rate is 17.23p, night rate is 9.61p - this is on EDF
We are in the process of getting our central heating installed and a gas meter is already in placed ready to get connected. I rang EDF today and asked them to switch us to a single rate tariff so we can have a much lower rate as Eco7 is not suitable for us and the night storage heaters were never used (all removed). I asked them to put me on a cheapest tariff and I was hoping to receive a much less rate per kWh on electricity, when EDF gave me a qoutation for a single rate tariff it appears the rate of electricity per kWh is rather higher than Eco7 day rate. They tried to find a cheaper one they can only find 16.80 per kWh, I'd rather stay in Eco7 tariff at least the night rate is a lot cheaper.
I guess my question is how much is the rate now for single rate on electricity per kWh as my understanding it should be a lot lower than Eco7 day rate?
save for the rainy days

I am in Scotland which is dearer for electric than most of the UK, generally by 2p, and am paying less than 13p.  The cheapest EDF for me is just under 16p with a higher daily charge.  The problem is that you are with EDF.  Go to one of the comparison sites and see what comes out.

Have you considered switching supplier or are you tied into a fixed term contract with EDF?

To get an idea of other tariffs have a look at Octopus Energy to give you a guide. I've just had a look and their electricity tariff is under 16p but you need to consider standing charges and also the cost of your gas supply. Alternatively put some figures based on house size into a comparison site and see what comes up.
  • I wouldn't get too wrapped up in the unit rate, you need to be looking at the total bill for your consumption. Depending on what your consumption actually is, that won't necessarily be the same as the lowest unit price once you've included the standing charge.

Also in Scotland 11.59p per unit with 18.09 standing charge single rate.

@mrsmsebastian  For comparison purposes use 3000 kWh / annum as your electric.; 10,000 kWh for gas

Don't forget that separate suppliers for gas and electric are usually cheaper
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

Probably worth the OP paying the Exit Fees at those unit prices!

Just compare using Citizens Advice and 'Switch with Which?'.
I'm paying12.11343p per kWh and 13.2825p per day (variable, inc VAT) with Neon Reef, but that tariff is no longer available to new customers.

I'm paying 10.9p/kWh. You're being robbed, do an electricity only search on a comparison site and switch asap.

That's a fraction less than I pay with Neon Reef  (Aqua One variable in the East Midlands)12.247515p/kwh and 13.513500 per day. (Aqua One variable in Eastern England)
