People do.They think that seals are magical, and can withstand jetwashing. As many mountain bikers find out the hard way, "water resistant" seals are not designed to stop jetwash water getting in and wrecking bearings/electrical connectors.I wouldn't jetwash anything I cared about, modern "paint" doesn't stick properly, like the old environmental disaster carcinogenic stuff used to, and it is just asking for trouble.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Another useful thread for future posters to refer to.3

It was about why do people jetwash the engine bay of their car on a regular basis. Apparently the neighbour does it and has continual problems with the car- presumably the electrical system.

Always wise to quote on responses. Seems odd to delete if the critigue is on the neighbour rather than the OP, unless the neighbour recognised themselves?0

The question still remains then; why do people jetwash their engines? Its just a terrible idea.facade said:It was about why do people jetwash the engine bay of their car on a regular basis. Possibly the same reason people wear designer pants. Nobody sees them, but it makes them feel good about themselvesScrapit said:

No body might see yours, but wearing them doesn't damage the "internals".ontheroad1970 said:

Depends on whether you jetwash them, whilst they are on at least.Scrapit said:

Unfortunately, that isn't always true. Some younger people think it's cool to not wear a belt on their trousers, so the trousers half fall down and we get to see their underwear. Why?If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0
