Really Confused with Microsoft Software

Ditch the Microsoft stuff - use Libre Office instead which is genuinely free to use.
For email try Thunderbird - also free.0 -
I use Office 2010(still fine for word and excel etc). If you install office live for free(don't have to use it), then you get outlook for free also.0

I believe Microsoft support for Office 2010 is due to end quite shortly - in fact it ended on 13 October 2020!
