Can't trade AUY because it has the same symbol on NYSE. Why can't their system handle AUY.L or the SEDOL number?
Can't trade XUKS or XSPS as these are 'complex'. Well other platforms cater for this with a complex instruments form; not rocket science.

Maybe iweb wanted to save you some money on XUKS and XSPS0

My understanding is that IWEB is a low-cost platform aimed at the "domestic" market. For the expert "professional" user and traders, HBOS offers the HSDL platform. Have you checked that HSDL cannot offer what you require?
Personal viewpoint: as someone whose priorities are weighted heavily towards a simple low-cost platform, I'd not favour HBOS extending the capabilities of the IWeb platform because I fear that would lead to additional costs and the inevitable increased charges to clients.

it's a no frills platform to be fair, i only joined recently, their registration is slow. When i signed up to AJ bell, got to log in same day.
Took almost a week with iweb.
Could be worse, could be fidelity where no foreign shares can be bought and more expensive"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

To be fair to iWeb they have the list of available investments they support on their public website so people can check before opening an account. If there is one you would like added you can always ask their control team who will consider the request but as with all platforms they will have policies on what type of investments they will offer and they are running at a very low cost base which is only possible by keeping things fairly simple.
While iWeb isn't useful for all possible investment requirements it is certainly not pathetic as we find it very useful for our needs.

Traded off book. Not quoted live.1

It's a superb low cost, low frills platform that saves me a LOT of money in fees compared to the % alternatives. You can see beforehand what funds they offer to gauge whether they will work for you, and they have added 2 funds I mailed them about during my time there.7

I web suits my purposes - I trade very little, receive my income monthly and pay no ongoing charge.1
