Thanks all. I ran it in safe mode overnight and this morning restarted it normally and took off more apps. Since then it has been stable. I've now reinstalled those apps and all seems well - mind you last time I said that it got up to its old tricks again! Thanks again for your advice.

I'm having a similar issue. Have managed to do a "full" power down over-night, and so far so good, this morning.
I've found the link to the Motorola Rescue and Smart assist tool, so if it keeps playing up, i'll try that.
I'm also getting tight on storage (93%), so might be time for a bit of spring cleaning!!
I know this is an old thread, but I thought i'd come here, rather than start my own. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.50% of current retirement "pot" (as at end August 2024)0 -

I know this is an old thread, but I thought i'd come here, rather than start my own.I'm the OP on this thread. I followed the advice on here and removed most of the apps. I have gradually added most of them back and the phone is still working fine.I've no idea which app was causing the problem - maybe I've reinstalled an updated and more stable version.Good luck and I hope that you get it sorted.1 -
This is the reason I got rid of mine as it would shut down mid phone call at a point in time when I couldn't afford to have this happening (job searching, phone interviews etc). I had talked to the boffins at my mobile service provider and after running through a whole load of possible solutions (which didn't work) we got to the point when I was asked how long I'd had the phone. It was about 5 years and I think the poor 12 year old nearly fell off his chair. Never knew anyone who had a phone that old and obviously all the programming was completely out of date and not worth rescuing.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. I'm hoping I can rescue it.
My dilemma is that I like its size. (I go running and carry it in a pouch)
New phones all seem so much bigger.
I'm torn between a new phone, just for non-sim stuff or a new tablet. But will it run banking apps without being on my "actual" SIM #
I have an old Samsung galaxy Tab 3, which is sooo sloooow, so has been consigned to the drawer!!How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.50% of current retirement "pot" (as at end August 2024)0 -
Arrgg....now I seem to have lost sound!!!
Volumes are all turned up, but no media will play with sound.
What have I done???How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.50% of current retirement "pot" (as at end August 2024)0 -
Well i've tried most things, even running that rescue software and it's restored factory settings....but still the problem persists, so it's not a space issue, or a dodgy app problem, so it must be hardware, or battery . (I don't want to replace the battery if it's the other hardware that's the problem)
So it looks like i'm now in the market for a new phone. I hope it runs long enough for any OTP codes that I need for internet banking.!!
DH thinks i've broken it by overusing it. Is that a thing? I do do a lot of browsing on it...I blame here!!!!How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.50% of current retirement "pot" (as at end August 2024)0 -
Big sigh of relief that Marcus don't need OTP to make withdrawals, so I can keep the books balanced whilst waiting for my new phone to come.
I've had the old one since 2017, and it cost £150, so that's only £30 per year. I think I've had my monies worth!!!
The devil in me does wonder if there is some sort of built in obsolescence in the software of these things, timed just long enough for it to not effect people who change phones like their socks!!!
Annoyingly, whilst in was in a restart loop, it kept connecting to 4G, and as I'm not on contract, it ended up using 25MB at 4p a MB (Asda) - so it's shenanigans also cost me £1 in creditHow's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.50% of current retirement "pot" (as at end August 2024)0
