Which Credit Card for Good Customer Service?

Why they are only available to first direct customers and don't really offer anything interesting?

That is what I don't understand either. I have both and as FD being my oldest bank account and longest held credit card with large credit limit - I still only use it few times a year to keep it active. Amex ( used daily as my main day to day card ) is head and shoulder above the rest in customer care, FD second ( sadly you need to be FD account holder to get one ) and after that it's more of how lucky you are than how good the service is as it varies from hit and miss to downright nasty....dr_adidas01 said:whitesmith said:For a non-Amex card I would go for First Direct.

AMEX seem very good.
Barclaycard have always been fine.
These are the only 2 of my cards I've ever had to contact for disputes etc.0 -
First Direct are renowned for their customer service.0

I don't get all the love for Amex. I don't rate them at all and had a very negative experience with them, I'd avoid them like the plague. Very cliquey! (i.e. if you don't have a lot of money, forget it)
I have a Tesco card and a Sainsbury's. Both have excellent customer service and easily accessible online accounts. I've been with both for over two years and never had any problems whatsoever.
PS If it were me, I'd send a letter of complaint about the aggressive person on the phone. No need for that at all, and very unprofessional. Plus, with you putting that on this site, it really has put me off Lloyds. You can tell them that, too if you like. Potential customers put off because of their rude staff. See how they like that. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Ermmm...maybe good customer service, which is what the OP asked about? IMHO Amex and First Direct are head and shoulders above the rest for customer service.dr_adidas01 said:whitesmith said:For a non-Amex card I would go for First Direct.

Again First Direct you already have to be a customer to have the credit card, so unless you want to switch your bank account to first direct it’s not a card available to everyone.Zellah said:

Well you don't have to switch your bank account of course you could just open a separate current account and then get the credit card0

I took an Amex Platinum Reward card for first time in 2016 - always had great service etc.

Nothing stopping people from opening a FD current account as a spare/second account and then only using their credit card. (good practice to have more than 1 current account anyway)dr_adidas01 said:
